Man McLaren are going to have a dream partnership in 2007, whatever happens. If Kimi stays they might as well give them the constructors and drivers cos they are the 2 best drivers going around. If Kimi goes and JPM stays, it'll be pretty much the same story.

Gotta feel sorry for all the other teams. Who cares, feck the rest of them especially ferrarri

Isn't he Flav's boy?

Word that's going around is Renault are planning to quit F1 soon and Flav got the best contract for him as well as Alonso.

I've never liked Flav...having his driver driving for his team is a clear conflict of interest....like Villeneuve driving for Pollock at BAR.

Have Renault made an announcement that they're leaving?

They better leave after this.

Even with the 2005 world titles in the bag, Renault's new CEO - Carlos Ghosn - may be devising a formula one exit strategy for post-'07. Ghosn is a renowned cost cutter, and is reportedly concerned about the flagging sales of road cars in Europe -- down 12 per cent. Even in Spain, world champion Fernando Alonso's home market, the sales decline is 3.5%. Renault's F1 president Patrick Faure told the 'Bloomberg' agency that the Enstone-based team must remain in the top-3 to stay on the race grid. Ghosn is expected to present his 3-year Renault plan in February. ''(He) won't lose sleep about Renault staying in formula one,'' Kimio Kase, who has written a book about Ghosn's leadership of Nissan, said. '''He'll ... look to see if there is synergy between formula one and Renault -- which I don't think there is.'' Clearly, however, Faure is a fan of the F1 programme, and he said that Renault's involvement is more about 'reputation' and 'image' than mere car sales. ''Being world champion, we have a very good return on what we invest,'' said the Frenchman. For the record, Renault's annual investment is about $300m, albeit less than rivals like McLaren, Honda and Toyota.

The reason McLaren wanted Alonso is because he is an excellent driver but also because Vodafone want to compete with Telefonica in the Spanish market, and as the new headsponsor of McLaren this will give them a good showing. What is perhaps worrying for McLaren is that Newey changed teams.

Kimi is probably off to Ferrari after this season.

Excellent this means Kimi is prob going to Ferrari he's a better driver than Alonso.

Kimi might be fecked at Ferrari though as Brawn and Byrne might be going with Schumacher

Their contract runs until the end of next season and they have an option for extending one more year.

What's Montoya's situation?

So far, all the talk is of Kimi joining Ferrari...does JPM have a deal for 2007, yeah?
Dunno but considering he came last year Im sure hes got atleast 2 yearss left on his contract... if not 3.

But Kimi will be the one who´ll leave, no question about it...

he'll most probably be the one that stays although if he goes as well as Kimi, probably to RBR, the second race seat will probably go to Lewis Hamilton the Mclaren protege.

It's rumored that Kimi already has a contract with Ferrari starting 2007 with a special no Schumi in Ferrari clause. Red Bull are said to be prepared to offer Schumi a mega contract if he leaves Ferrari.

both JPM and Kimi have their contracts up for renewal next year. If either of them is serious about winning a world championship, money will not be the deciding factor. McLaren has everything going for them, new sponsors and a great team of people around. Newey leaving will be something but they will get someone to replace him. If Kimi goes to Ferrari, he will have huge expectations and a new environment. kimi is not the most personable person and at Ferrari they are expected to be likeable to the media, whilst at Mclaren they are more clean cut and tell the media only the barest minimum. Mclaren is a better fit for Kimi, he has been groomed there and is Ron's golden boy. JPM on the other hand is a bit more brash and personable, he's got a hard edge to him like schumi and will be a better fit for Ferrari. Couple of years ago, he was thier first choice. Don't be surprised if he does go.

Whatever happens, whether JPM or Kimi goes. it'll be one of them unless somehting major happens, McLaren will have the strongest driver line-up since senna and Prost. Now thats worth paying the admission price to see that. Same equipment and strategy, just find out who is the better driver.
