Well I can`t deny that it really annoys me. In the same way as it is for example the case with barthez for elfie. After every bad spell or a few games on the bench it is always the same. All the jealous muppets come out of their holes with always the same points:

Is he overrated ? ; Is he overpaid ? Is he only famous because of his looks and his wife ; When was the last time he scored a freekick for us ; why plays he better for england then for us ?; when was the last time he did this or that ? ; Why don`t other player who are much better, consistent, talented etc don`t get the same amount of recognition and money?

And all this not for player who costs millions and didn`t perform, but for a player who supported United all his life, came through the ranks and is/was one of the key members of Uniteds most succesful era of all times. A team that gave me some of the greatest moments in my life :(
Well it kept me again well busy the last days to answer these people. But now I´m really fed up wasting my time with that any longer! A short look in the cafe archiv and I found out that there were exactly the same topics one year ago, with all the people eating their words in spring. :D
So I´ve accepted that it is part of the prize being a global superstar, that you are much more criticized then other players in bad times. Even from the people who call themselves United supporters. So in the future I won`t waste my time, trying to convince people with my poor english (really hard work for me). I will just repost their comments a few months later. :D

Its simple for me. Width is soooo important, as our recent form has shown. We need Becks for the width he can provide. If he can't he should go back to the reserves and practise till he can supply those crosses again. We really need those.

on Saturday, he ventured into the middle, on many occasions and cramped space, as per usual... i can't believe Fergie instructed him, to do so... If he gets back, i hope he stays out wide.

Ole's the man on the right... i see no reason whatsoever of replacing him with Becks.........

" i can't believe Fergie instructed him, to do so"

Maybe you should ask him. By the way Figo comes often inside or switches from the right to the left. Do you think this is bad for Real ?

Alex has gone on record stating that he's instructed Giggs and Beckham to play infield more in order to score more. If Beckham is playing all over the pitch rather than in the position and role that Alex has told him then I would expect a manager of Sir Alex's experience to notice this, don't you? I'm sure he could make Beckham stick to the wing if he wanted to, dropping him if he didn't - if he can't and Beckham really is the ludicrous sort of person who ignores his managers instructions and plays a roaming role anyway then its Alex's weakness for allowing that to continue - but I prefer to believe its because, like he said, its intentional.

I don't mind him coming into the middle, on rare occasions, however, if he does it frequently, it could cause damage to our pattern of play... he's a great crosser, i'd like him to provide alot of them for the strikers.. furthermore, iam not a fan of long passes, from deep positions.. but he seems to do many of them.

re Figo, yes, he does play in the centre sometimes, but his main contribution is still from the right.

Blame the manager for these tactics, not the player - we know he can play wide - he was the best in the world at it.

doesn't seem like tactics to me... just a headless chicken, ruuning around trying to be Bryan Robson....

blame SAF? seems like some people do, for everything...

and nothing is worse than Beckham fans, trust me. ;)

btw - I can recall, Charlie going against SAF's instructions... Keane was meant to be our box to box and he the D midfielder.. yet he ignored Fergie....

he didn't last long tho'

Beckham is a legend, no two ways about it. he isnt our best paid player for nothing.

he has been our most consistant performer for years along with Keano. He is captain of england.

what more needs to be said. some people are just fools who think they know about football and have short memories - you can find all sorts of scum on the internet.

Correct, so we can presume that if that is what Beckham was doing all last season then Alex wouldn't have wanted him to sign a new long term contract. Sven thinks Beckham should be in the centre ideally, and I'd rather him there than Veron tbh though not both at the same time. Maybe he just needs to get the balance right and try and return to his wide position quicker. One thing I would do is have Giggs or Veron take the corners on the left hand side.

If it was the managers instuctions to come infield looking for the ball otherwise the blame has to fall with the player.

I don't agree with a lot of the cricitism Becks got early in the season. He didn't look fit and if we had more option available i don't think he would have played as many games early on.

He has to play wide right. We have Seba in the middle to deliver the telling passes from there so we need him putting in those world class crosses that was the platform for so many of our goals.

let's wait until the next game against blackburn to pass judegement on whether does becks comes to the middle all the time. to be far to him, he did put in a few crosses from the right.

But ultimately, becks is not a outright winger, his lack of pace means he cant outpace the fullback to the byline for the cross. Thus, he'll hit the early cross most of the time, and by this time, all the leftbacks in the premiership would have see through it.

I guess fergie is just try to encourage becks to vary his play, a few crosses on the right, venture into the middle sometimes, and gets the odd goal now and then.

When do I ever get upset if Ole is criticised.

Blaming Beckham is totally non-sense, unless you think he dare to ignore Fergie's tactic/instruction and do everything he wants, play everywhere he wants in the field.

I think Beckham gets a lot of negative posts because as George Best said he is a one trick pony just like Owen ;)

Becks from 'Breakfast with Frost'

"I think something needs to be done about certain things, but it's now part and parcel of being a footballer or a manager. It is unfortunate that your private life comes into it, because all I've ever wanted to do is play football. [and go to celeb events and do lots of adverts and, and, and]

According to the Telegraph Beckham earns up to £1m-a-day for some of his recent advertising work he has done for Japanese firms.

Well, i agree too. Maybe there's why all the fuss with him coming into the centre, and not about Giggs who's doing the same.

However Giggs does provide us with a thrust upfront down the middle. On the other hand, Beck's coming into the middle only leaves us missing his crossing down the right flank.

Becks and Garry overlapping down the left is lethal. However I wish that Becks would do the final overlap more often as his crosses are better.

Well, why don't I start talking as though Keane is overrated and lets see how many of you jump at that.

Shakesphere.... a.k.a Becks75
U r taking everthing personally...
Beckham is not crticised .He is
evaluvated.

If u can't tolerate this then.............
am sorry

Hey
I'll finish of this Beckhams topic right now.
He is good player no doubt abt it.perfect role
model........,fighter...But bcos of all these things
we can't stand on our heads and say he is the best
or the greatest ever ok.
He should be admired for his class and attitude.

What irritates me personally is the hype...like
four body guards with googles as if he is going
to set the next game on fire........

Beckham is always for United and Iam proud to
say this.

Ok
Bye

I dont think he has not been performing since 99
. He has scored the most number of goals in his career last season.
What I mean to say was
Rate Beckham for his footballing skills not
for extracurricular activities.

Now a days he is trying to be on his own.
Take the match against Southampton.
absolute mess.This is not criticism...Fact.
..If player is not of world class(Fortune perhaps) or out of
form like Veron last season we can accept.
Becks he is playing well. But he is in
wrong positions at the right time
Why?

This season i dont mind even if is not scoring.
His job is give crosses, take corners and freekicks not to score goals.
As long as he does this iam happy
He should not play in the middle. He is
cramping the midfielders.

Am not worried abt..the way he plays for England......more concerned abt utd.

Utd are performers not pretenders like England
He is a United man.
