The foundation of Manchester Uniteds recent success has been built around youth, the core of this youth is what our present team has been built around, but recently this youth system has been overlooked, hence we have no quality of youth coming through, this is in turn now giving us a short term problem. With the recent changes in the backroom staff and the appointment of a Brazilian coach hopefully these problems will be behind us, and we can look forward to once again having decent players coming through to the first team squad, but this will take time. The short term problem is more serious, what I saw in our most recent CL encounter was to be honest, a shambles, players who are clearly not good enough and players who don’t seem to care. The defence is the biggest worry, and although I will support any player who wears the shirt of Manchester United there comes a time when certain selections have to be questioned. Phil Neville has been a good servant to the club, but surely the time has come for him to move on, we clearly need to invest in two full backs, one who can play either side as Irwin did, if this problem is addressed I am sure the back four will once again be sound, Rio and John O’Shea will I am sure soon become a force. Another problem is Veron, he may well be a skillful player but I don’t think he will ever perform for Manchester United, his style does not suit the way we play, time to cash in I think. But for me the most worrying aspect of what I saw in the CL encounter was the lack of team spirit, something I am sure is going on at the club, and I may well be slated for what I am going to say next, but I think the problem is Roy Keane. Roy Keane is without doubt a quality player, but he has to carry the respect of his team mates and if his presence is upsetting the dressing room atmosphere this clearly needs addressing, Keane gets my full support when he plays for the team, but when he openly questions the commitment or ability of some of his team mates, that to me is out of order, nothing causes more problems than this type of behaviour. If Roy Keane has any concerns about player ability or commitment he should address the problem to his manager and not tell the whole fecking world, so come on Roy, talk to the boss, sort it out.
