Manchester United and Everton set to sign wonderkid after Chelsea ruled out of chase following transfer ban - MirrorFootball.co.uk

Chelsea’s transfer embargo will force them to miss out on Swindon wonder-kid Alex Henshall, clearing the way for Premier League rivals Manchester United and Everton.

Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti had lined up a move for England youth winger Henshall, 15, after he impressed in the prestigious Milk Cup tournament in Ireland.

Everton and United are now locked in a two-way battle.

Swindon youth boss Dave Byrne said: “No official bid has come in for Alex.

“The last thing we want is to sell a player who has been here since the age of eight but if he decides to leave that is up to Alex and his parents.”

Apparently he was named junior player of the tournament at the Milk Cup.

Nothing like hedging your bets eh?

Manchester City sign Swindon Town youngster Alex Henshall

Manchester City have signed Swindon Town teenager Alex Henshall for an undisclosed fee (12 million??)

Liverpool, among other Premier League sides, were reportedly also interested in the 16-year-old, but Citizens' boss Roberto Mancini has managed to secure the player.

The midfielder made two substitute appearances for the Robins last season, and is part of the England Under-16 set-up and regarded as an integral part of the national youth side.

Swindon chairman Andrew Fitton told BBC Radio Wiltshire, "They have come up with a deal which is good for all parties.

"We've been approached by a number of Premiership sides and that includes a discussion with Liverpool."

Fitton also hopes that this deal is just the start of an on-going relationship between the two clubs, with the possibility of other youngsters from the Manchester club coming to the County Ground on loan spells.

"Part of the deal is an understanding about what we might do together in the future and a first refusal on him coming out on loan to us," he added. "He's a special talent but he's also young so he's got a lot of learning to do."

12 million?!

I find that hard to believe

I don't. This is Citeh we're talking about. They'll now and try and get the jump on the rest when it comes to young talent. If the selling clubs are aware of their interest then the price is going to be hiked up.

Crazy money I agree.
