At least Fergie admit it now ... FINALLY he spoke out something which I have been shouting for a long long time now ... Before we even get Seba I was saying ppl like Gerard (Barca) and a few other young, energetic midfielder which I rate and really think they could add on to the "muscle" in our team ... but then we didn't get anything better in that manner .. Yes we have increased our midfield option but I have to say that since 2 seasons back - I have started to get so frustrated seeing our midfield losing every single high-ball coming straight from the opponent GK .. that's really rediculous !! ..
At least now Fergie admit ... which is GOOD! .. he will think of something I am very sure ... DEPTH - we are lacking of that today ... yes we have a lot of up-coming stars like Richardson but we lack of some young but POWERFUL guy who could step up during the absence of Keano or Butty and make that tackle COUNT !! ... physical presence isn't there really ...

Im inlcined to agree with him to an extent but... we have more goalkeeping options than the Poo and Arse.
Centre defence we have more options than both of them i think, when all fit.
None of us have depth at left back, we have more depth at right back as well.
Centre Mid we are about equal, we have less right side cover than Poo but equal with the Arse, we have more left side than both of them and up front we lag way behind them both.
Its more so that we lack the overall squad depth and quality that we used to have a few years back, a couple of players and we are right back up there!
To say we lack a physical presence is true to a degree but its not the cause of our problems!

It's astounding that Fergie should come up with this "strong athletic squad" bit now when its been patently obvious for two seasons. This is one of the contributory factors, apart from Houllier's negative tactics, why we haven't been able to beat Pool for two seasons. We'll continue to find it just as difficult against Arsenal for the same reason.
Either Fergie has lost touch even more than I thought or he simply doesn't know what to do, which is just as bad. We have a total over reliance on Keane. When he's not there we do not have sufficient muscle to compete with these teams.

He said youse were more physical than us, ie tougher. He also said Cowdenbeath have a more physical side than us, as do the Irish rugby team, youse are a long ball team and you need tough players, Pool have never been an attractive team with amazing players. If you want glamour and good football watch Man Utd. We dont need tough players like "heave it up to Heskey Hyppia" or "conversion kick carragher".
More Fergie mind games I think. No entirely untrue but he didn't say it out of interests of accurate reporting.
