Liverpool have agreed a £12m fee with Sevilla for defender Alberto Moreno.

The 22-year-old Spain international has been withdrawn from tonight's Uefa Super Cup match and is expected on Merseyside for a medical later in the week.

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre has spent the day in Cardiff finalising the deal and will be a guest of Sevilla's at tonight's game against Real Madrid.

Martin Kelly is now expected to leave Anfield to join Crystal Palace.

The England international, 24, will have a medical with the Eagles in the next 24 hours after the clubs agreed an initial fee of £1.5m, rising to £2m.

Happy it's finally (nearly) completed. He's still pretty raw but definitely talented and already a step up from José Enrique and Flanagan.

Really like Flanagan and Liverpool will do well if they stick him on the right instead of Johnson and have Moreno on the left.

I'm not a huge fan (he did a fantastic job last season but is still a pretty limited player. Definitely with you on playing him (or Manquillo if we need to go more offensive) over Johnson though. One attacking and one fairly defensive full back on each side sounds ideal to me.

Would be a great signing for them. Their others have been fairly average or underwhelming and in some cases overpriced but this would be really very good.

He's still only 21 and was reliable - unlike Johnson. Didn't Cafu hail him as his successor? He was really good against us last season, then again so was everybody.

I actually think Liverpool have done well with the Suarez money.

What they needed was a good squad and now they have it.

Now they need the x-factor, unless Sterling/Coutinho can step up.

They have the league's 2nd top scorer and Sterling will certainly step up next season IMO and be massive for them, a real danger.

Sturridge showed himself to be a great striker, but he doesn't have the x-factor to create something out of nothing on a regular basis.
I feel Sterling and Coutinho (and from what I've heard about Markovic i can include him) to get to that x-factor level.

To put it into perspective, i'm thinking about Eden Hazard, Juan Mata & those players. Sterling and Coutinho have both showed they can do it, they just need to get their top level to be consistent, and have higher lower-level games.

How on earth did they manage to get him at that price? I thought Sevilla wanted at least 20 million or something like that...

Sterling to play for barcelona or real madrid in 3 seasons time.
Both of those sides have very young, world class players in his position already.

I'm sad he's going Liverpool. He's excellent going forward and will be a really good signing for them.

He's really good going forward in the right setup.

Can be a problem defensively though and even struggles at one on ones at times.

Will be interesting how he adapts in the PL.

Think Rodriguez would've been a much smarter buy for them as he's miles better defensively. Couldn't have been that much more expensive either. Think Moreno may struggle against the better wide players in the PL.

Rodriguez would have at least twice the amount that Moreno went for. He was Wolfsburg's best player last season and was really impressive in the World Cup as well. Wolfsburg are also really secure financially and don't need to sell players.

I hate to say it in the circumstances, but I think he'll be good value for money. He's young and he's a player who might take time to settle, but there are very few players who don't need time to settle.
