With Leeds in even more turmoil than ever, now is the time to move for Smith. He's strong, aggressive, good feet, quick can score from outside & inside the box and can play both centrally & out wide on either flank.

Will he come? Well I know he's supported Leeds since he was a foetus but he can't be too chuffed with what's happening. He's ambitious, wants to win cups & play for England. We all know he won't win any cups at Leeds in the forseeable future (unless you count a Nationwide First Division runners up medal) and Sven likes his England players to be playing regularly in the Champions League - not something Leeds will be doing in the next five years.

I say offer Grimsdale 8 or 9 mill, let him talk us up to 12m and then he'll feel he's done a good deal. Grimdale's happy, we get a new striker & Leeds fans burn their season tickets. Perfect!

Splash the cash and give the lad a red shirt.

I have to agree on the fact that he is overated, waaaaaaaaaaaaay overated. He hasn't exactly been setting any pitches on fire with his scoring.

no point in buying any leeds players as we wont be playing them next season

I take it you didn't hear him in an interview when he said he'd consider playing for any club in the world ... except Manchester United.

Kluivert said something similar, and they can both go and feck right off!

Wouldn't mind him as a fourth striker. He's a gritty passionate player which is always a good thing imo.

Maybe we should make your post a sticky. :)

There's a lot of qualities in Alan Smiths game that i admire in a player. He dtermination and skill are undeniable but there's just something that tells me he doesn't fit into the United way of playing.

Thats fine as Manchester United would not consider signing him.

He had to say that. he'd have got crucified by Leeds if he had said he even think about playing for us.
Give him the chance now and he snap your arm off. A choice between the CL and the First division.

No didn't here that. Looks like I've caused a bit of debate here!

As to being over rated, I don't think so. He's been playing in a poor Leeds team this season and every time I've seen them he's been consistently their best player, often the only one doing any real work. He was easily their most dangerous player at Old Trafford. Also he still in his early 20's and will get better.

My reason for pointing to Smith over an overseas player is I don't really want to watch someone trying to settle into premiership football for another 12 months. IMO we've been light of a striker all season in the Premiership. We've seen with Seba - and I'm a huge fan of his by the way - how long it can take overseas players to adjust.

Yeah he was on soccer am and he said the one club he would never play for is United.I think he is a good player when played up front, works his socks off, give him some credit.Just not the type of player we are looking for imo.

I could easily name a list of players that I would like to have ahead of Smith !! .. be in English or overseas ...

He seems to have silent down a lot lately ... and same goes to him scoring touch. So is it like he will have to play/act dirty before he can score goals ?? ;) If yes then it's really difficult ... 8mil to buy some red cards?? :o
