Although i haven't seen the footage yet i heard on the radio this morning that he was caught by Sky Cameras scratching at the ball with his thumb is this true?

He had to see the match ref after the game to explain what he was doing, he was caught on camera picking at the seam with his thumb, they didnt know if he was trying to damage the seam or if he was flicking off dirt. After seeing the ref no action was taken

Pictures showed Akhtar basically running his thumb nail on the ball seam, not hard enough IMO to warrant the press it has got though...

He could have been cleaning the ball, or he could have been trying to lift the seam. Either way, he is likely to be in trouble as the laws state you have to have the umpire watching when you clean it.

Admittedly, a stupid thing to do in the present climate...

So you'll reckon Inzi will get banned for it? AS he is technically the one who will be held resposible.

I think no action is being taken against anyone, rightly so IMO - no doubts fingers will start pointing at ICC for being weak.

It does make Hair not look like a racist anymore.

Yesterday's issue has nothing to do with Hair - it was a non event, it would not have got two column inches in the press had it not been for the happenings of last month.

And after all that he gets off Scott Free despite the 'fact' that he breached the rules. Must be racist against the England players then no? Or maybe he will be forced to resign at the International outrage that will follow. maybe England will refuse to come out for the next test as a protest?

Na, mature adults don't do that, only ones looking to justify their questioned morality.

Chill!

The minor scratch on the seam was hardly going to change the condition of the ball - at max it was slap on the wrist incident. This form of ball tampering happens all the time in all forms of cricket.

The authorities acted in a proper manner, Akhtar was summoned and dealt with in a professional manner, unlike the Hair scenario.

Lets be honesty, who thinks ball tampering does and hasnt been going on in cricket widely for ages? Like one of those worst kept secret thingies. Afridi in a recent interview with an Indian channels revealed that all teams do it using mints and all sorts of things. Funniest was when he said that they should allow it after a certain amount of time.. that after the 30th or 40th over, it should be allowed.

Erm aren't you missing the point here?

There is a rule that applies to these situations. He broke that rule. He wasn't punished.

Now if you apply that same level of flexibility to every incident (instead of making racist accusations because it goes against you) and not just the ones that are in your favour, then you have a valid point.

BUT YOU DON'T.

I am British, born in India - it's generally a recipe for all things anti-Pakistan.

I am honest enough to realise Hair has made a mockery of umpiring with personal agendas.
