OK here is a thread for AFL 2009 season.

Predictions, thoughts and game analysis in here!

My Ladder:

1. Geelong - Cant see them losing too many

2. Hawthorn - Great effort last year, think they will be hard to beat again.

3. Adelaide - Always perform pretty well at home and think they will be up there again

4. Fremantle - Surprise packet of the year, loads of potential that failed to deliver but will step up.

5. Carlton - Got to put my side up here, Again, loads of young players gaining more experience and with CJ there, his professionalism will rub off.

6. Bulldogs - Good year last year and to carry on again this year.

7. Brisbane - New coach, strong side, Home games help.

8. Sydney - Uncanny way of nuggeting out wins.

9. Richmond - Even Ben Cousins wont be able to get the King of the 9th place into the 8!

10 - North Melb - Lot of people wrote them off last year, Wont be as strong as last year.

11. Collingwood - Due for a form slump, this is the year for rebuilding.

12. St.Kilda - Very poor year, Not much depth so Injuries may hurt.

13. Port Adelaide - Rebuilding needed, bad recruiting (Carr)

14. West Coast - 1-2 more years needed

15. Melbourne - 1 better than last year, only 1 better though!

16. Essendon - Llyod, Lucas, Fletcher, too old, too small.

Brownlow Medal - Matthew Pavlich - Umps love him, polled something crazy like 18-19 votes last year and Freo had a shite year! More games won - more votes for the Pav.

Premiership - Geelong to bounce back.

Coleman - Fev to kick 109 for the year including a bag of 11 and 13 (fingers crossed)

Surprise packet of the year - Freo - should have gone a lot better than they did last year, tall forward line, midfield young and fast, Sandilands All Australian form, think they will surprise a lot this year!

Most Improved players - Brad Dalziell (Brisbane) - going to be a gun

Taylor Walker - Adelaide - like the look of him and think he will get a good go this year

Well they are my predictions for the year, Fellow AFL followers lets hear yours!

Swap Port for Freo and your 8 looks OK. I think the Collywobbles will be in the 8 too but not sure who will miss out.
Fev won't kick more than 80 but the Blue boys will have a good year.
Judd for the Brownlow.
Geelong for the flag.

Here goes my prediction:

1 Hawthorn - Young side with great talent and run and carry

2 Geelong - They will be very hard to beat

3 Bulldogs - Very hardy side and will be battling for top 4 spot again

4 Adelaide - Experienced team, won't lose too many at home

5 Sydney - Mix of experience and youth, versatile play

6 Carlton - Rise of the navy blues, years of wooden spoons starting to pay off

7 Richmond - Fancy them to sneak in, Cousins and Cotchin; next West Coast?

8 Collingwood - Party boys to refocus and mount a late charge

9 St Kilda - Depth of squad exposed again, to fall very short

10 North Melbourne - Legs getting tired from age, will struggle for a finals place

11 Fremantle - Very young squad learning with new coach as well

12 Brisbane - Tipping them for a year of underachievement

13 West Coast - Team will start to come together and play some better footy

14 Essendon - Critically need to rebuild an old squad with lack of creativity

15 Port Adelaide - Will languish as cellar dwellers as they rebuild

16 Melbourne - What else can I say?

Brownlow - Very tough to say, a lot depends on the way the game is played in 2009. Does the game have the potential to get "ugly" again? Will the AFL counter tagging? Can't pick one for sure.

Grand Final - Hard to go past Cats vs Hawks again. Top footballing sides, and will go down to the wire. Tipping the Hawks to have that little more competitive edge.

Coleman - Fev to put last season's 99 behind him and bag a century.

Promotion for the Swannies
Sydney will be entering a phase of rebuilding, as said by Paul Roos himself *sigh*. Still, with the leadership of Brett Kirk, Adam Goodes, Craig Bolton etc., Sydney will still have a good chance for the finals. A few of the youngsters have been blooded and proven eg. Kieren Jack, Craig Bird and Patrick Veszpremi. Will be an interesting year, but hopefully successful nonetheless.

CARN THE BLOODS!

Melbourne will win at least 6 games this season, mark my words.
