AFL Grand Final

Brave call after West Coast only beat the Swans last time out due to an incorrect call late in the game. And after edging last weeks game with the last kick Sydney looked good this weekend.

Shame it isn't in Sydney.
 
So the Swans and The Cowboys are my (rather hopeful) double for the grand finals.
 
WCE deserve it. Swans are boring and shit - there is something about them that is annoying. WCE are class alround, chris judd is an amzaing player.

More a fan of NRL though, hoping the broncos can pull one off over the bloody tigers!!
 
I dont like AFL. But i might actually watch this one seeing Sydney are involved and to see what the hype is all about.

I hear one of the Sydney players, Hall, might miss it for hitting a player (read in paper). If he missed out, are Sydney fecked?
 
They have other forwards but Hall is their captain, and their target man. I watched a few of the sydney games and he dominates the defenders, piling on goals after goals. Ugly fecker aswell.

WCE should win. Amazing talent and work rate throughout the midfield.
 
Another year, another grand final with the home of Australian Rules Football unrepresented. While logic dictates that I allign myself with the present incarnation of South Melbourne, with the same principle that I applied in the case of Brisbane-Fitzroy last year, I don't know who I'm going to barrack for this year.

Sydney winning would go some way towards justifying the dross they pass off as footy and that's not doing anyone any favours. Rarely has a team turned away neutral supporters in their droves the way this mob have. On the other hand West Coast are superb to watch but to me their club represents the manufactured, mickey-mouse course taken by a game that's becoming increasingly distant from its roots and I've always disliked them immensely.

It's like bloody United vs Everton in a cup final.
 
So Cousins wins the brownlow. I nearly fell off my seat in surprise.

Chelsea'll win the bloody title next!

So the first half of my double came true. Maybe the Cowboys will make it 2/2 tonight. Fingers crossed.
 
Why did they get that fag to sing that daft song at the AFL? fecken ****** ... laughing stock of Australia. That's why people think Australia is full of poofters and trannies ... we fecken supposedly 'idolise' them. What a joke.

And the cnut called the MCG , M"S"G ... fecken idiot.
 
He is talking about Barry Humphries/Dame Edna. As usual he was hilarious. If only the rest of Australian comedy was so talented.

I live in/near Tigers country now but I lived in Townsville for 10 years. My son (now 6yo) was born there and he got a temporary spray on Cowboys tattoo yesterday. He spoilt the effect somewhat by asking to have a Tigers one on the other arm.
 
HBTW Yianni I have met Barry Humpries and he is neither a trannie nor gay but is a female impersonator who aims to make everyone uncomfortable whilst holding a mirror up to Austrlian culture. The same goes for his Sir Les Patterson character. Humpries is a very well read and intellectual man.

He is so far from Priscilla Queen of The Desert (which was as crap and embarrasing as Crocodile Dundee and its sequals) that he isn't even on the same continent.
 
Im happy for the tigers. I support neither, but coming from qld it would been nice to see cowboys get there.

So your saying his occupation is to act like and dress like a poof/women to make people laugh etc?

Does that not strike you as abit wierd?

I heard the match was going to be shown in alot of overseas countries ... then this 'thing' enters on screen and i was completely embarrassed. I didn't want to be an aussie for the duration this person was on screen. They could of done without him ... ffs they had Deltra Goodrem in the crowd, surely she could of sung a song or two ... least she is something to look at.

Yes i agree, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Crocodile Dundee are also shit.
 
Humphries is a superb peformer who is worth every bit of his iconic status. Not only is he an exceptionally incisive social commentator, his comic instincts are straight out of the top drawer. Watch him do his off-the-cuff interplay with the audiences at his shows. It takes an acutely honed gift to be able to improvise in front of an expectant audience and do it with that much wit and ingenuity.

It seems to me your problem with him centers around the fact that largely does it in a dress. My advice to you is to pull your head out of your arse. The actual brand of comedy may not appeal to your sense of humour, and that's your loss, but you wouldn't know because your perspective on his work doesn't extend beyond the fact that he's a bloke in a dress.

You may think he is a 'superb performer'. I, on the other hand, think he is not.

I always thought he was a ******. Until when he came on screen on the grand final my brother pointed out he isn't gay and that he is actually married with kids. Don't know if that is true or not but it's very wierd he would do this. His voice is extremely annoying also. I would be embarrassed to be his kids.

What was so funny about him in the Grand Final? He sung a wank song, called the MCG the M"S"G and sat around the BBQ before he went on stage making a complete idiot of himself. I sat there the entire time trying to figure out why this person is famous, what is so good/funny about him, and why they would bother to have this person on display infront of Australia and other countries. We have better celebraties out there yet they chose him ... again, why they didn't get Delta Goodrem (when she was in the crowd) to sing is beyond me.

He is an entertainer. And a brilliant one at that. He makes you laugh despite making you uncomfortable. I saw him on Parkinson. Parkinson could hardly get a word in edgeways either through laughing or Edna talking. Dame Judy Dench and Ozzy Osbournes wife were on and he outshone both of them. Judy Dench looked shell shocked most of the time - terrified and amused.

He has been married three times I think. I met him when he was on his honeymoon in the late 80's. One of the few genuinely funny people I have ever met. He also didn't appear to be up himself.

I find Delta Goodrem a bit crap and embarrasing. Kylie doubly so. Humpries is a national treasure.

I was in Sydney for a while then headed north. Listened to Roy and HG and really enjoyed their commentary when I was camping in Cairns.

Funny blokes.
