Redknapp has confirmed they are "in talks" with City over signing Adebayor. It doesn't mention on SSN if it's a permanent or loan move.

He'd be a superb signing for them and fit in perfectly with the system Harry is trying to play.

Superb? I don't know about that. When was the last time he was superb?

Their strikers are Crouch, Pav and Defoe. He's a massive improvement on any of those.

For a side trying to get in the top 4 I think he'll be a superb addition.

If he signs he'll get 20 goals in all comps.

Hardly superb. Wouldnt be a bad signing mind. Question is whether you want someone like him at your club. He is a good footballer no doubt, but also someone who is always good for trouble

If he is as good as you believe, I can't see Shitty selling to Spuds. Didn't they refuse to let Bellamy go there last season?

If he can stay motivated he'll be class. Whats most likely is that he'll play well for a few months then decide he can't be arsed.

He'll do his usual 'score a load of goals in the first few games and then fade into obscurity' trick.

They were in direct competition with Spurs last season

And they weren't shitting themselves about FFP. They hired the ex-Blackburn Rovers chairman (Williams, I think) on a short term contract with the express aim of offloading players.

I don't think he's amazing or anything like that. I think he'll be superb for Spurs given that he's exactly what they need.

As for City selling to Spurs. They might not allow it I agree. I suspect they just want rid of him now though given the FFP rules.

His wages are going to be a stumbling block. I can't see him accepting a huge hit, which he would almost certainly have to, if he joins Spuds.

Anyone know how many years he has left on his contract?

Adebayor was superb for one season - 2007/08. Following summer AC Milan came calling, he wanted to leave, but Wenger said no, and as a result his performance level started sliding down.

He was never able to regain the same form, not at City or Madrid. Probably has more to do with the mental side, rather than physical.

If Adebayor can potentially add 20 goals a season then they could be again.

Problem is he'll be taking some of those goals away from the others. I don't see Spurs competing with City for the top 2 (or 3) spots to be honest.

I do wonder how many signings Spurs are away from becoming a true title contender. On paper their mid looks pretty damn strong. Strengthen the defence and get a top quality forward and they could be up in the mix for the top 3.

In fairness he didn't go off the boil too much, he just didn't get the starts.

He's always excellent his first few months and then decides he's done enough.

When he first started playing well for Arsenal after the season he stopped caring. Came to City and was massive, then stopped caring. Went to Real and played well enough, but didn't have enough time to stop caring.

Tottenham will have a player good enough for a few months and at least against City and Arsenal, but otherwise he'll be a HUGE problem in the locker room, especially with his wages. Saying that, he is an improvement. I'd prefer to see them get 4th, but was hoping they'd pick up Falcao.

I think it will be a season loan, with the wages being split between City and Spurs, and with an option for Spurs to sign permanently at a fixed price at the end of the season.

Even if you take away his one exceptional season he still has a record of over a goal every two games since and that's something that Spurs could do with, as well as someone who could provide a mobile target. Even when he's disinterested he's still better than any other Spurs striker and even at his lowest point he'll offer things their other strikers simply can't.

He was exceedingly good that year, doing everything that was required of him. Banging in goals for fun and gving defences a fookin terrible time in the physical department aswel. Hes a handful "when" hes arsed.

If so, that would be a good deal for Spurs, not too much of an expense (half his wages), no initial capital outlay to gauge how good he is, then they can decide if they want to buy or not.

Having said that though, I honestly can't see City being that dumb - to loan him to one of their competitors (unless they think they are a level or 2 above Spurs now) with conditions FAVOURING primarily the competitor!?

He'll do well at Spurs, if he can be arsed to put in the effort though.

SSN have just said it's a loan deal that's being discussed.

With City probably still paying about half his wages i'd imagine..... funny guys.

I wonder if he's left it till now to go for Adebayor because now the Spurs fans are so desperate for a striker to be signed before the window closes they won't complain too much?

Shame for Spurs fans they can't get a better quality signing up front - that team deserves someone better than Adebayor finishing the chances they create.

A side not in the Champions League will struggle to attract anyone better than Adebayor.

He earns £160 000 a week. Spurs got a wage cap the highest earner is on around £80k I think. Only way this loan move is happening is if City agree to pay half his wages every week. Well they did pay most of Bellamy's wages when he played for Cardiff so it's not impossible.

With his positioning skills he might actually be the only striker who could get on the end of a Lennon cross.
