Real Madrid one of three clubs keen to sign Adebayor for some reason. #mcfc hopeful of offloading him this month.

Fulham and Monaco also trying to do a deal for Adebayor. He doesn't fancy Fulham, Monaco can't afford fee. #mcfc

Villa and Liverpool can't afford Ade wages either. They're not in the game. #mcfc

Why the hell would Madrid want him?!

He could be a fantastic player if you could get his head right. Maybe Jose fancies his man management skills to do it. (More likely it's a load of fanny and Ade will end up in Italy with half his £180K a week paid for by City).

His failure to nail down a spot for City doesn't make him any worse of a player. Circa 2008 for Arsenal he was brilliant and has been impressive in fits and starts for City. Still a very good player who could be a good addition to a Champions' League squad.

Real Madrid's problem summed up in two words:

cause madrid are short of strikers, and adebayor fits the mould of a typical jose front man.

Time for some Glorious Route One and Set Piece Exploitation!

Desperation I guess. If they can get him on cheap than he'll patch up Higuain's role nicely they hope. Benzema has been very inconsistent and they don't have any other striker.

Adebayor in 2007-8 was anything but route one. He was a superb focus as a lone striker in a 4231, made a load of assists, worked his bollocks off and scored 25 league goals.

And could still have been better. Was very wasteful and offside.

Ronaldo's pretty much as effective as Benzema in the forward role I'd guess.

Well that was his breakthrough season at 23 - you'd expect improvement in terms of finishing and learning how to time forward runs. Instead it looks as if he can't be arsed to do the graft - hence his whole game is pretty ineffective.

Mourinho doesn't expect Higuain back this season.

If Madrid can get Adebayor on a loan they'll take him tomorrow morning. Of course City, and everyone else with a spare striker, knows that, so they aren't going to make it too cheap or easy and neither will Adebayor.

I've just remembered that Wenger who is normally so diplomatic about ex-players was uncharacteristically scathing about Adebayor - 'sometimes you put so much in and you are rewarded by getting nothing back, it's a disappointment'.

Jesus. I always forget how old he is. Still only 26 but I always find him to be 30 in my head. He's an odd one that Emmanuel.

Taylor made 1/2 season mercenary move to Madrid to fill in for Higuain, basically confirming that Benzema has been a flop.

Would be a good signing for Liverpool to be honest...

We took him from Monaco put 25 lbs on him and taught him to lead the line. He paid us back in spades by doing that superbly and scoring 25 goals (which no-one expected). Then he couldn't be arsed to do it again and was more interested in signing a £45M 5-year deal).

Mancini today on possible exits:
"For Roque it is possible," said Mancini. "He is a good guy and he deserves to play. But with Emmanuel I don't know. We must wait and see."

Am I the only one reading that as "Ade is a twat and I want to get shot of him ASAP"?

Yea I remember. All my best mates are Arsenal fans so I've got into a discussion about him quite often. Very mixed opinions on him back then. Even when he had his good season.

Hehe. I think he's saying what most of us are thinking. Santa Cruz is generally not a disliked footballer, even though he signed for City.

A lot of people didn't like him because he was raw and he wasn't TH14.

on form he is a fecking handful for any centerback in the world. even rio i believe once stated adebayor was the toughest striker for him to play against.

he'd do superb at madrid IMO and jose would have no problems controlling him since all players cnuts or not seem to bend to jose.
