Sky Sports | Football | News | Adebayor claims Juve deal

Emmanuel Adebayor claims that Juventus have agreed a deal to take him from Manchester City when the transfer window opens.

The 26-year-old striker has cut a forlorn figure this season as he has failed to earn a regular place in Roberto Mancini's starting line-up.

Rumours of a bust-up between the pair have been played down in the past but he has now expressed his intention to leave.

Adebayor made the switch to Eastlands from Arsenal in July 2009 for a fee thought to be in region of £25million, but has only started six games so far this season - just two in the Premier League.

And Adebayor has now publicly aired his frustration, saying he will try and engineer a move this winter.

He told Sport/Foot Magazine: "I don't know what I did wrong to Roberto Mancini, but he never makes me play.

"I'm going to change air during the transfer window in January.

"And I can tell you that City has already reached an agreement with Juventus for a loan.

"I therefore expect to be able to leave in December."

Adebayor has often been linked with a move to Italian outfit Juve, where he would link up with manager Luigi Del Neri.

However, one potential snag to the deal could be the fact that the Old Lady already have one non-EU player in their squad in the form of Serbian Milos Krasic.

Serie A quota rules prevent Italian clubs having more than one player from outside the EU, thus leaving former Togo international Adebayor unable to link up with the 27-time champions.

So it's an agreed deal but he wouldn't be allowed to play at Juve?

Or does he qualify for EU citizenship soon?

I maintain that he's a very good forward when he sets his mind to it.

I think he's a cracking forward thats been incredibly misused at city. His attitude probably didn't help but he should be one of the worlds best strikers for me by now.

I personally think he is massively overrated. When he is in the mood he is a handful, but that isnt often enough for me.

He played a season at full throttle for us and about half a dozen games for City.

I hope this means he won't be doing anymore BBC punditry.

Sometimes I feel like that but its a very easy call to make as the man is obviously a twat but he is a fantastic striker when utilised properly. Once a manager does that someone will reap the rewards.

Maybe you are right, I mean his goalscoring records arent that bad. I just think someone of his size and ability should be more of a threat, and he is only a threat when he wants to be.

Must be a frustrating player to have in your side, mind you I could easily be describing one of our strikers there too.....

They just as well might get rid of him. He does not fit in the current Manchester City tactics at all, as there are no creative midfielders to create for him. This will not weaken City much neither, quite the contrary; if it leads to the return of Bellamy I think it will make them stronger.

Adebayor, Berbatov and Macheda up front. Not a bad strikeforce for Juventus.

Adebayor – I’m leaving! Man City – No you’re not!

There seems to be a difference of opinion between the volatile Man City striker Emmanuel Adebayor and his club, Man City. The Togo international has made it quite clear that he is not happy sitting on the bench at the Eastlands, and has had more than one argument with his coach Roberto Mancini.

Mark Hughes paid Arsenal £25million for Adebayor last summer to persuade Arsene Wenger to let him go, but he has fallen down the pecking order rapidly since Mancini’s arrival at the club and is now actively looking for a new club.

Adebayor told French magazine ‘Sport-Foot’: “I’m going to change my surroundings during the January transfer window.

“Man City has already reached an agreement with Juventus for a loan and I therefore expect to be able to leave soon.”

But City have categorically denied that Adebayor is going anywhere, and if he did it certainly wouldn’t be a loan as the club would want to recoup most of the most of the money the paid out to the Gunners in a straight sale.

William Hill are offering a free bet up to £25 for new customers

It looks to me like Adebayor is trying to engineer a move, just as he did at the Emirates before Wenger finally caved in and let him go……

That does not make any sense at all. If City indeed hope to recoup money for him, they have to lend him out to a club where he will play. And hopefully well.
