A substandard bag of meat and bones.
A chance for the Academy to take revenge for the away loss earlier in the season. Team news to follow - apparently Wootton is playing centre mid and we have a right back on trial from Liverpool.

Interesting team. Crewe always seem to do well at Carrington, but then we always seemed to do well at their place until this year, so hopefully we can change it too.

is morrison injured or something?
He hasn't been played for a while now.

1-0 Ajose, placed in the far corner when everyone expected a cross.

Pogue - there is a Senior Cup match on Monday so they may be involved in that as we normally play a younger team. Also a few players were involved in international double headers so that may also be a factor.

Connor Roberts-Nurse has only played 2 matches for Liverpools academy this season so he is not exactly a regular :)

A bit of research: 'We'll also be seeing alot more of Connor Roberts-Nurse playing for the U18's aswel even though he wont be given a schoalship until next Summer' so he may not be 16 yet.

He was also their U15 captain.

Not a bad group of players watching on the sidelines: Welbeck, Cofie, Dudgeon, McGinty, Brady, Petrucci, Brown and O'Shea.

Is that Brown Jr. or Sr.? Either way always good to see senior players (Sheasy) showing an interest in the Academy

The match has livened up in the last 5 mins and been end to end, Lingard just had a goal disallowed for handball, following up a rebound after an Ajose effort was cleared off the line.

Yeah, he's 16 seemingly, but still only a schoolboy so him not appearing much for Liverpool U18s so far is no big deal. Seems to be naturally a centre-half.

Half time came too soon, was just picking up. Ajose looking more and more like kammy's lovechild.

That disallowed goal is bizarre, can't be offside, it's not even close. Can't give handball when it's headed at him from a yard away and his arm's right by his side.

I thought it was harsh at the time, however 1-1 is probably a fair reflection of the half as both keepers have been busy.

Oswell is a real elbowful up front, and they look dangerous on the counterattack and from set pieces as quite a big side.

Thorpe perhaps fortunate to escape with only a yellow after hauling back Oswell on the edge of the area when he would have been clean through (although Fryers was in line, he would have been too far away to make a challenge).

Hopefully we can react well to the goal we had some decent possession before going behind. King on for Connor who I'm sure the commentator called Nurse Roberts earlier

2-2 Keane knocks in a great left footed finish into the top corner from a King cross from the left.

Keane went close earlier with a dipping snapshot from the edge of the area whilst Crewe continue to threaten on the counter.

FT 2-2 Ajose nearly winning the game with the last kick, flashing a half volley narrowly wide after a goalmouth scramble.

The score was probably fair, with United dominating possession, but Crewe a constant threat on the break, Oswell proving a real handful.

Wootton was probably the pick of the United players.

Unlucky not to win that really. Thought we had much the better of the second half.

We enjoyed a lot of possession in the second without really creating much then Crewe scored on the break. The introduction of King added that extra penetration upfront I thought and we started to work the ball in the wider areas where we had more joy. Unlucky not to win it at the end.

Anyone remember who scored the first for Crewe (think it was the #11 Koral but not totally sure)?
