Academy v Wolves

There's not usually streams available for the Academy games.

It's still 1-0. We've come close a few times, but it's been fairly even since the goal and Wolves have responded well to going down so early, although have rarely threatened.

Apparently Morrison is back on the bench which is good news.

Been a decent first half - not too many chances though. Tom Thorpe and John Cofie our 2 best players. Our midfield has looked a bit sloppy

Wolves have had the better of it so far this half, Gorman and Mendez-Laing have swapped flanks and causing problems for the full backs.

Keane having a frustrating afternoon with several seemingly marginal offside decisions going against him.

Morrison has come on for Lingard and Wootton for McGinty.

Mendez-Laing is quality - easy to understand that he has made his debut for the first team already

I expect full ratings on your blog later on, lysglimt :)

After scoring so early, you wonder what will happen but it was a disappointing game. Wolves actually had one blocked off the line. We mised a few chances, Ajose should have got his name on the scoresheet. I think there number 7 (think that was his number/can't rememeber name) was much to strong for fornasier. He was quite dynamic.

Good to see Morrison feature AND track back a lot. Weird to see a female linesman. Disappointing the ref wasn't aware of the advantage rule.

Thorpe our best player - Fryers came close.

Our entire midfield was a bit lethargic and Ajose should at least have scored twice. Cofie's 1 half was probably the best I have seen from him - but he has never impressed me that much. Sure he is good - but he rarely comes close to showing his potential in matches

Keane could have scored 5 if he had timed his runs better - theoretically he could have been onside all times - but from the poor replays we saw, he could have been offside so I will give the linesmen the benefit of the doubt

But we won

Morrison hasn't really developed as would have been expected this season, mainly due to injuries. He also has a profile and the opposing teams have not allowed him the space he had last season which he will have to learn to deal with.

Cofie has been in and out of the team and has looked good in flashes, but not really every looked particularly dominant despite his physicial attributes (he's tall, strong and quick) and has good feet for a big lad. He's looked better of late though and it is his first full season at Academy level so it's difficult to come to too many conclusions as yet.

He's only played 8 games I think (morrison). I reckon they're working on his 'character' behind the scenes. MUTVs another challenge because it's making kids 'famous' before they've done anything. I'd like to thik it's that rather then injuries but we never really heard anything.

I remember hearing about Cofie (when we were battling for his singature with Pool) and Morrison (seen some Youtube clips), can someone tell me how are they progressing...? Also, Pogba, Keane. Thank you. :D

Cofie is still a work in progress. When you look at him in the milk cup - he's not really established himself yet but his goal today was very good.

Morrison has barely featured. Today when he came on he showed a good attitude to getting stuck in and chasing back.

Pogba is technically very good but probably better offensively. Tunnicliffe is similar but could be more box to box. I know you didn't ask but you shoud..tut tut...

Keane should be irish. What's he thinking? What was rooney thinking? Good technical player. Not 'big' but gets on with it. Scores goals. Never seems to get flustered.

Today as a whole was a day to forget. We probably scored to early and didin't show wolves enough respect.

I could have been wrong since I was always paying that much attention - but I thought they said on MUTV today that Morrison had played a total of 66 mins of academy-league football in 2010 when he entered the pitch today.

Knew he had been out a lot but in that case - it was worse than I thought

Think we showed them plenty. They should have beaten us at their place and they're doing well in the league so no reason why we wouldn't. If there was a problem today it was how leggy we looked after five 70 minutes matches in Italy last week, but a win's a win so definitely not a day to forget.

We didn't get stuck in after the goal and let them dominate the game. I think from that perspective we didn't show them enough respect because we never got out of first gear and maybe it's a mixture of things. It's often not so good when you score so early.

Maybe it was fatique but then they're kids and kids have a lot of energy. Not a day to forget, the winner was a great goal by Cofie. He really showed some power and pace and a good finish

Maybe the early goal threw us but I don't think showing them respect (or not enough) came into it at all. Kids have energy is a bit simplistic though. It's the end of a long season, tiring week behind them and while they have energy, they're not physically equipped to deal with lots of games back to back like the senior pros are.

On that sort of subject, this run we have coming up worries me a tad - Saturday/Wednesday/Saturday/Tuesday/Saturday/Tuesday from here on in if I remember rightly, and with the squad pretty stretched through injuries and a few players looking a bit leggy already, it might be a tough ask and we might see a few more games like today.

Every time I see Nicky Ajose play, he seems to score but he looks tiny. Useful player for some championship team but not United quality. What do you guys think?

Kids play football everyday. If they're resting properly, they're fine. I think sometimes the problem is when you get games called off weeks on end and your trying to reach match fitness

I used to play football everyday at school and then went to play with a team and it was amazing the difference but your body adapts to it and I think the excitement etc works well for them

You make a good point, but i'm showing faith that youth can overcome it. Fingers crossed.

Bit of difference between school/local club football and playing full-time for a top club though. Huge difference in fairness. At this stage of a long season not sure the 'excitement' factor is worth that much, and as much as anything it's a mental issue too, they're not attuned to playing that regularly and the shorter recovery time.

It'll be a great learning experience anyway.
