A substandard bag of meat and bones.
Kick off at 11am, team news to follow.

Might be Pogba's competitive debut?

1. Lloyd-Weston (on loan from Port Vale)
2. Thorpe
4. Fornasier
5. McGinty
3. Fryers
7. Lingard
6. Tunnicliffe
8. Pogba
11. Ajose
10. Morrison
9. Keane

Subs
12. Cole
14. Cofie
15. Wootton
16. Brady

Pogba starting in midfield, time to see what all the fuss was about.

The thought of our team in the FA Youth Cup scares me in a good way :)

this could be our midfield/attack (Ljajic will be available for the 2nd game I think)

Rob Brady, Paul Pogba, Davide Petrucci, Ra'vel Morrison, Adem Ljajic and Josh King

I think all these players could play in the youth cup

Pogbas looking very good so far already played 2 great passes to create chances and put in a few good challenges

Pogba has looked extremely impressive so far. Great touch on the ball, good vision and quick one touch passing and not afraid to get stuck in. Looks more box to box than a pure defensive midfielder.

He seems to be getting forward quite a lot and seems like a good tackler.

Pogba looks like an interesting prospect alright.

United with all the possession but struggling to create a clear cut chance against a well organised Crewe side who have threatened once or twice on the break.

Yeah our lack of an actual striker is telling with both Morrison and Keane in the hole and noone up front. hopefully Cofie will come on

I like the look of Fornasier too, he's a typical Italian defender, all over the centre forward and reads the game well.

Yeah hes tidyed up a few times already his reading of the game looks very good as you said

Keep the updates coming lads, it's a shame the academy games don't always get streamed.

I think the axis of tunnicliffe and pogba looks very good. They're quite similar (on the basis of this 45). Having said that, it's hard to judge how well we're playing and how poor crewe have been for the home team.

As a team we're playing well for large parts dominating possession, just nothing really happening for us in the final third. Morrisons best work has been from deep aside from one good effort 20+ yards out and keanes been tidy but not really effective

Ajose has done well (I rate him better then stewart btw), I'm not sure linguard (not sure spelling) is having his best game.

Defensively we've been good though crewe had the best chance and probably should be one up on the back of that.

Crewe came more into it the last 10 mins or so and came the closest to scoring with a ball across the box that evaded their striker on the far post.

It looks as if Hussein will be out for a while, picked up a shoulder injury in training and may require an operation.

I think we need to put Cofie on and drop Morrison a bit deeper as we lack the presence in the middle.

Maybe taller?

Hard to tell, cause he's surrounded by kids who still have a lot of growing to do but he looks like a man mountain compared to them.

scarey how he's not 17 until march ain't it :)

Is McGinty playing with Fornasier in central defense? How is he looking? Interesting that there is so much hype around youngsters signed from foreign clubs, while he has barely been talked about at all!

the problem is that crewe has spent about 2 minutes in our penalty area. it's harder to judge, that's why the kid on 'loan' in goal (who we have on trial from port vale) hasn't been mentioned. Very little to do

Paul Pogba has been very impressive so far, quite a lot of the good points of his performance have been mentioned already but what's really impressed me is his touch and control of the ball - he's done some Diaby-esque skills to get past players and shown some quick feet which I wasn't expecting. Looks promising.

Yeah, I was expecting a bit of a destroyer, but he's far more skilful and creative on the ball.

Crewe just missed a sitter. They are getting behind our defence down the flanks far too easily at the moment.

A Diaby with a brain, now that'd be quite some player.

Cheers for all the updates everyone, much appreciated.

Brilliant 2nd from Crewe, overhead kick after playing a one-two with himself.

This is reminiscent of the Southampton game where we had a lot of possession but failed to score and got caught on the break. Full credit to Crewe though, 2 quality goals.

Pogba with an absolutely spectacular free kick from 30 odd yards hits the underside of the crossbar and comes out, really would have been an amazing goal.
