A bit early to start looking forward to this game I know - but Blackburn have impressed a lot this season with 4 wins and a draw - and those of you who watch the game should look out for a 16 year old striker called Jason Banton - he has scored 6 goals in the last 3 matches.

With Liverpool, Everton go City all struggling in the first few matches - chances are the winner of this years academy-league is playing in this match.

Very early to be saying that. You've got to remember that the first five games of the season are games against teams from other groups - none of the teams in our group have played each other yet, so it's very hard to judge where teams are at (everyone has played different teams for example, some might have been unlucky and faced some of the stronger sides, or vice versa). Then you never know how teams will suffer with injuries, international callups, promotions to the reserves etc. Put it this way, I'd bet decent money it won't be a top two of us and Blackburn at the end of the season.

Banton's a good player though. Think I'm right in saying he was at Arsenal as a schoolboy. They've got Michael Potts there as a second year too, who played for us as a schoolboy, and we had their first-year Jackson Ramm on trial when he was 15. Kevin Hitchcock's son Tom scored two against us at the end of last season as well.

You have many good points - but the fact is Everton and Liverpool both have lost 3 of the first 5 matches....and the gap is already 7-8 points to Blackburn. That is hard to close....even if we are early in the season
