Say what you want about him but one thing thats for certain as a winger I wouldn’t want to come up against this guy. I think our right wing problems puts more pressure on him than it should but at the same time suits Dalots skillset more.

I wouldn’t fancy going at him with the ball at my feet, but give the ball to someone else and I’d back myself to beat him with off the ball movement.

That’s me - a pub league player with a beer belly. Pro wingers can and do turn him inside out without the ball on a regular basis because he switches off and his defensive positioning is absolutely amateur.

Hope it’s the right move selling him. He’s played 2 finals and won them both. Kept Saint maximin quiet in the caraboa cup final and kept Doku fairly quiet in the FA cup final. Very rare finding a defender that’s so good 1 v 1.

Agreed. I suspect the 2 cups that everyone holds aloft as signs of some form of progress don't happen without him playing. That said, his concentration levels leave a lot to be desired.

The intriguing thing is he's getting a lot of preseason minutes, which is not what one would expect for someone we're actively trying to sell, especially considering the number of injuries we've had.

I agree wabout Newcastle game but with FA cup not so much. Doku changed the game and nearly every time AWB allowed him to pass or shoot. He gave him too much space in that game.

Ye true. That’s why i said fairly quiet. Doku wouldn’t have scored if it wasn’t for Onana. And he was restricted to shooting outside the area.

We can't keep a player just because they're useful in like 2 specific scenarios a season.

Those 2 jump out because they were high profile games. It's not just 2 though, is it? Any game where there's a direct threat down our right side, he's the guy you want to do a job.

And what about deep crosses to that general area?

For every game he tackles a winger a few times there are another two or three where goals are conceded down his side because he forgot he was playing an offside trap, players can run off the ball and it's his job to protect the back post. We need to move him on and try someone else.

Only when trying to stop that direct threat means more to you than your own ability to play the ball out of defence as best you can. Otherwise you're making a trade-off that weakens the team for the sake of trying to stop one opponent.

There are very few games across a season where we would actually be better off with AWB's skillset on the pitch rather than Dalot's. So few that keeping him as a specialist rather than having a fullback who can perform more similarly to Dalot isn't worthwhile.

He starts again. Either he's staying or we're the dumbest club going.

Bayern gave minutes to Mazraoui today in their friendly.

Clubs do that all the time. It's only fair to the player, and mutually benefits all clubs with their own signings, that the players who are likely to be sold are still given game time in friendlies so they have a pre-season and build up match fitness which will benefit them wherever they end up.

It's only if a transfer is very Imminent that the player might be pulled out of a game. Probably suggests AWB and Mazraoui's moves aren't as imminent as we'd like.

If selling Mazraoui isn't immenent for Bayern, that makes sense for them. However, we're being told that AWB (and others) NEED to be sold in order for us to spend. We're essentially throwing cash down on the blackjack table.

We also don't want to look desperate. If he plays well it will benefit our position.
