If these rumours are true regarding United and a player leaving/joining or even a new manager etc etc, is it not the responsibility of the PLC to notify the stock exchange of any agreed signings or people leaving?.

I'd have thought not until the player actually signs, or a few hours prior to that.

But if Keano had told the club he is leaving, the club would be legally bound to tell the stock exchange.

Interesting point that. We need to know the legally binding timeframes within which these decisions need to be announced. Anyone?

The Veron signing was announced on the stock exchange on the morning he signed, with the presentation to the press in the afternoon. I'd guess they'd have to know if something very solid had gone through, i.e. the player has passed a medical and will sign imminently.

don't know about the time...i asked a similiar question at the chipppie..

sometimes...infact most times..people are tipped off within the stock exchange or guys that are linked to the company.. so if we see United shares move one way or the other..we can be sure United have either bought or sold a player...

insider trading... its supposed to be illegal. ;)

i don't know how much United's shares will be effected.. but most big companies do move in this way before major announcements.

edwards (spit) just recently sold a load of shares!!, maybe fergie is going upstairs

But when SAF and even Peter Schmeichel left the PLC were duty bound to announce it which is why they did it when they did.

If a player was definately leaving or retiring (someone muppet suggested this about Keano) we would have to announce it.

Edwards is a businessman who has made a lot of money out of UTD. maybe he knows there are no great young players coming through like the Becks, Giggs, scholesy, Nevilles and Butts. He sells now, makes a whackload of money. Utd have a few lean seasons, share price drops, edwards insider information tells him there is another good lot of players coming through and Whammo, he buys cheap and gets rich all over again.....
leech

Edwards, a fan he is not.......

Come on! He and his family have been working hard for United for over 40 years. And he actually comes from Manchester, unlike some.
