Tumbling couldn't have put a clearer message in there for people not to comment

Just ban them, even if it's just a day. They won't stop otherwise, how hard can it be
 
I just think it's done for a reason, so the votes don't get swayed, and so it's easy for GD who does a sterling job, to tally them up

They should know by now what the system is anyway. But when it's so clearly pointed out to them not to make comments, and they just ignore it and do it anyway... they deserve what they get

I thought Valencia didn't really make any impact on the game. He helped out with defensive duties and did good job, but didn't really do much coming forward.
 
I second Brad's notion. I tried to calculate the MOTM votes a year ago and it is a real pain in the back side with all the comments. We should all appreciate the work GD is doing, not burden him with inappropriate jokes and spastic comments.
 
To be honest I didn't even know they were tallied up until recently.
Even now I never seem to see the results.
Then again knowing what the feck's going on never has been one of my strong points.

'outside yourself as a cock' - Hmmm! Had a quick glance around the forum and couldn't see where it said that you had to dictate what folk wrote about. If people wish to put comments then that is what a forum is all about. No, I aren't one of the offenders but maybe I should be if it get's 'a cock' like you upset and thinks he can boss guys around.

To be fair, if you're going to deride someone for writing "outside yourself as a cock" then you shouldn't then follow that up with an "I aren't one of the offenders"...
 
I agree with Brad. It's clearly stated each time yet people still manage to throw in some comments.
 
To be fair, flaming the people doing it is just going to cause arguments and thus more comments.

So does this mean TD should be banned, too? He's commented also, more than once.
 
Sometimes it's difficult to refrain from commenting, especially when people make such spastic inclusions. Why not have a separate thread for discussion of MoTM choices?

It's probably impossible, but is there some way of making a poll with only three entries? So you can do the MoTM with ticks in boxes rather than having to rely on some poor soul wading through the pages?

That way comments would work, too.
 
I don't think commenting as a way of swaying posters' opinions within in MotM threads is a very valid argument, given that the rest of the Manchester United Forum is filled with opinion.

However, it does make it much easier for GD to tally the votes.

Also, I've seen on other boards before that there are threads with multiple polls within them. Is this a possibility for the caf?
 
I placed an Admin note at the top of today's MoTM thread. All comments were deleted and will be deleted in future threads, so its not the end of the world if some Noob decides to add their opinion - it will get wiped as soon as myself or one of the mods see it.

In the future, for whoever starts the next MotM thread, please add the following Admin Note to your thread.

Administrator Note: For anyone new to the process. Please list your top three players, then Move On. No comments, no responses to comments etc. You can do that in any number of the other threads. All comments, responses, or quoted responses will be deleted.
 
In fact, i'd go further. The people who sit on the fence annoy me just as much as the others. You know, the ones who decide to post only 1 or even 4 or 5 but not THREE AS THE feckING THREAD REQUESTS.

I'd suggest that posts are deleted for those who dont post the required 3 or post more than the required 3. Make their opinions not count.

But less than three votes can sometimes be because someone genuinly doesn't feel anyone else is worthy of being mentioned. More than three I can see is annoying ("honourable mentions" ffs :lol:), but less than three can still serve a purpose.

Man of the match thread has it's own rules for a specific purpose.
 
You'll always get people making some sort of comment. The only way to crack down on it 100% would be to make it some sort of poll, so it would actually be impossible to comment.

Either that, or have a seperate discussion thread for it, summat like that.

We'v discussed the possibilties of polls. Niall was looking at options.

How hard is to follow some very basic rules Alwyn?
 
Just start putting a warning in the OP, any poster who makes comments will be banned/infracted depending on the mood of Geebs. They'll soon stop.

some people don't tend to read the first post once the threads got xx amount of posts in. They tend to look, if anything, a few posters up and if they see someone breaking 'rules', they do it too because they don't know better

Brads suggestion is a good one, however a warning telling them to always read the first post else would be good - else you'll be banning people who then have a chip on their sholder and start threads like, 'why woz i banned 4?
 
Can never understand why we dont just dont have a "man of the match" why name 3, hence I never post in it. Banning people for a line or two of text is over the top considering the more serious matters that people get away with

Posted by GD a few days after the poll in the same thread, and then monthly and yearly threads detailing who the Caf has voted as the best player of that period

Perhaps GD could be given blog rights, and make it a blog worthy article each month? Make it more visable, and perhaps put a few words about the kinds of things players have done in games that's seen them gain recognition from the fans?

I'd be heavily in favour of this, warning if they are a newbie, banning if like that idiot 'Allforone' at the weekend they know exactly what they are doing.

I think green demon would appreciate all the help he can get although I do like his after-count comments where he flames all the idiots.

It really is a basic request from him to help him count the votes and remove bias from the voting procedure. It's one thread on the whole forum where posters are asked to go in, list your 1/2/3 and get out. It's so damn easy. If I was the blunderman I'd be swishing that banning stick like a budget kung-fu movie.
