A suggestion for dealing with persistant offenders

a wee idea to mull over. Anyone who persistently opens duplicate threads or posts subjects in the wrong forum gets a yellow card.
Persistant offenders get a red card.
2 red cards and you get banned.

Come on lets clean the scum up out of our streets :D
 
I remember reading this idea once before...

Its just a matter of implementing it and keeping track of everybody that does offend, its a whole new task in its self. Certainly maybe worth considering and to be kept in mind though.

not hard to implement. Open a thread in the mods forum, and when someone offends note their name & colour of card..

Or modify their member status to show it: "First Team Player - on a yellow"

I've seen that done on other forums, it's nice because it also shames the offender in front of his peers, or something like that...

These are all good ways of implementing it, but if we want to do it properly we would have to look at every single thread open. Not all of us have time to do that - I mean, I read about 85 - 90% of this forum but to keep up with everything and who offends and what is considered an offence is way to big of a task.
 
its not hard to see when theres 100 beckham threads open in one forum. Find out who started the first then give all the rest yellow cards :p

In fact if you look at the United forum Pires_Arsenal has just opened 5 topics, of which 3 were locked. Under the new proposal he'd be on a red card already facing a ban..

and that would be a good thing, especially in his case :D

I locked them merely for being in the wrong forum, he's not really done alot wrong to earn this whole 'yellow card' scheme in my opinion, but why am I referring to something that doesn't exist...

Have you not been reading his posts all along then? He's started at least half a dozen about how Beckham is irreplacable (first he said Ronnie could replace him, now he says he can't... get the story straight lad), and he started as many or more each in the Gen of "any single ladies?" and "Beckham shirts for sale?" These all within 24 hours of each other and he would start a new one with the closed one right under it.

He's not a real poster, he's not even a wind-up. He's just a spammer and he's got no place here.

So tell me, what does a poster have to do to "do a lot wrong?"

Ahhhhh...Now I didn't know that - I was offline for a few days and may have missed some of it.

But to do a lot wrong, if you think back to the days when you first signed up for this place, and click on the I agree button after reading the rules, which I'M sure you read ;) one of the major things we don't tollerate is people being racist - that would be considered instant banning and I'm pretty sure its in the agreement of being in this place.

Other topics and what not would be delt with as and when pending on the situation.
