RE the following thread: David Beckham: A pathetic joke footballer

Please rename this, as I, like many others, find it a total embarrassment to the forum that a thread with such a title can find its way to the main page.

By all means, leave the discussion open, but the thread title is nothing short of a disgrace.

United have never been a club in that mold when it comes to former players who have given us so much.
 
I don't agree with what he's saying but should the Caf be editing thread titles that offend people's sensibilities unless they have the potential to offend?

It's the OP's opinion so feel free to ridicule him but I don't think we should start editing people's opinions.
 
I started that thread and the title conveyed exactly the subject I wanted to be discussed and which was supported by an article in the serious UK press.

By all means disagree or even ridicule the opinion or start other threads and see what traction you get. But changing the title because it gives you nightmares while you sleep under your Beckham duvet has to be one of the most embarrassing requests made on this forum.

Anyway, the thread was from AGES ago, the posters on the thread have all who were most vociferous on the debate (Mockney and myself) argued for ages, agreed to disagree and even kissed and made up after it all. Why bump the thread in the first place?!!!

Just a stupid title. The opinions of the thread are valid and of course you can think as you wish about him, but the title was purely inflammatory for no other obvious reason.

Speaking about Beckham that way makes this place look like RAWK and really does make me, and clearly many others, cringe.
 
I disagree with this petition, that thread was an active thread, it was debated at the time and it doesn't make any sense that people are requesting for the title's modification when such wasn't done at the time.

Perhaps lock the thread (the OP's point has been discussed 2 years ago) so it sinks and people who dream with Beckham can instead create a new one instead of bumping that one which indeed has an unpleasant title...
 
I disagree. No sense censoring someone's opinion. Why should someone else's opinion embarrass you? You're a United fan. Most people are idiots. You're bound to be embarrassed a lot if you think like that.

i don't agree with repressig free speech in that way. I read the thread and understand why it was named thus. I may not agree, but I see the reasoning behind the title.

So no editorial controls?

The guys said what he had to say unrepressed, those on the site have the editorial freedom to do what they want by the same freedom of expression, that's a gimme from posting on a site like this, and people should act within the standards expected in the forum, if they don't they should create their own. Changing the thread title is not going to cause him major injury.

People have the right to shout off cliff faces it doesn't mean they're repressed when no one chooses to listen.
 
If that's the case half the forum should be banned, there's alot of embarassing stuff on here atm.
