At at time when we are speaking of the possibility of having Roy Keane as our manager in the future, for I believe I read something on the Official web site which said something on that line, I am getting more and more impressed with David Moyes. The way the guy is tough and a no-nonsense manager thrills me at the prospect of having him as the next manager at Old Trafford. His tough stance on the call up for Rooney to play on a month long tour sure bears only a midget testimony to that.

I would whole-heartedly welcome him at Old Trafford in succession to Sir Alex. Maybe Keane could be his assistant and coach along with Cantona. Hard to ask for anything better, would you not agree?

We haven't been worth that much in a few years now ;)

McLaren's the safest bet surely?

Knows the club, knows the responsibility, can handle the pressure...

It'll be interesting how the timing works out. If he isn't England manager by the time Fergie leaves, he's your man.

Agreed Keano is a great motivator ,great player but he should not be allowed to take over a big club like United immediately..I think he should
manage some smaller clubs for atleast five years
and finally take over United(for 10 yrs+...i hope).
I think you may be right Vinay.SAF wants to give
a contract to Keano for another five years..Maybe
he will be a assistant coach...and finally take over....My vote is for Sven...

I'd be happy with O'Neil, McLaren, Sven or Moyes with Keano as assistant manager. I can't see them taking a chance on making Keano manager without him proving himself somewhere else first. It will be just like what they did with Robbo, go and prove yourself somewhere else first and then we'll see.

you think he's too defensive ?
I imagine.

He certainly had an evolution, or an involution probably from your point of view, after his first years, in the mid 80s, but after all the 98 and 99 Lazio wasn't playing neither a dirty nor a boring football, IMO, clearly.

I'd see him perfect at OT, which I've been saying from aug 99, my reg date.

IMO there are only two realistic candidates for SAF's replacement at this time - Steve McLaren and SGE. Moyes may well be an option in a year or so when we see how he does long term with Everton. Please God let it NOT be Martin O'Neill, he is making a right mess of Celtic. Souness I cannot see him wanting the United job, i reckon he is more interested in being H ullier's replacement at Loonypool

Don't like the way England play

Souness will come and bring Duff with him

I know I said this before on the site, but at the time I don't think anybody very much noticed. But, can anyone point out the similarities between
our two legendary managers at the club,

1. Sir Matt Busby
2. Sir Alex Ferguson

?

They're both knighted ;)

They're both knights?

I'd like to see Moyes as next manager.

i love his passion, reminds me of SAF.

Strachan's done a great job at So'ton na'll....maye he should be looked at closely.(don't think SAF would like that tho' ;) )

But, really, Strachan would qualify to some extent, and so would possibly Souness. Maybe Burley would deserve a mention too.

But, Moyes has to be cream of the lot.

Although I know it's still early days, I think Moyes has a lot of potential and he'd be up near the top of my list.

I hope it's not going to be SGE. I just think he's overly cautious and I can't see him stamping his personality on a team the way Fergie does.

I very much like the look of Moyes. He appears to be a manager in the Fergie mould but he's obviously got to prove that he's worth taking the gamble on. If Fergie can see out the rest of his extended contract we should have a much clearer picture in two and a half years time.

Just hope that Liverpool doesn't grab him first, although the big rumour right now is that Martin O'Neill is going to take over from Houllier at the end of the season. Probably more rubbish, but you never know.

Roy and SAF are definitely cut from the same cloth personality and ambition wise and i can't imagine anyone i'd rather have at the helm...but i agree that he won't be ready straight after his retirement from the game. i certainly wouldn't want him on anyone else's payroll in the interim, however, so keep him at OT as assistant coach or some such capacity.

could he take that Coaching course/exam that Choccy was always banging on about in his diaries? that could be a step in the right direction.

I thought Sven did a excellent job in the excellent job in the World Cup.What can he do with
a average team with only six world class players and so many pushovers...by the name of new Pele,
Golden boot candidate. etc....
give some credit to Sven.....
