A Dance with Dragons

And there was much rejoicing. Damn time, why must it be so ... linear.

The fat man is nearly there! I can't wait. I have to get back to reading the books though so I can get through all of them again before July.

While I love the books, knowing what will happen is incredibly depressing, especially with Eddard.

Winter is coming. In July.

It's going to be out soon. I've already pre ordered my version and it's bloody expensive!

Talk about timing, the new book just a few weeks after the first season of the tv show ended.

Ditto. Getting it the same day as well. July 12 cannot come soon enough.

Reading 'Name of the Wind' in the meantime.

I've only got the series in paperback, does that mean I'm going to have to wait even longer?

Edit: Amazon has the paperback edition as being published in september 2012 :(

I'm still deciding how to get the book. I could wait and go get it from a store first thing in the morning or I can order and get it in the afternoon. Hmmmmm.

That's ridiculous. Guess I will be waiting until September next year then!

Yeah I much prefer the little paperback editions of the books. Even the paperback I got of A Feast for Crows when it came out was absolutely massive.

I might even just buy the little version of AFFC at the same time because I'll be done reading the 3rd book again soon, and I still haven't read AFFC.

I got the paper back editions of the first 4 but I've ordered the hardbound for this. The 1st four books put together cost me lesser than the 5th book

Haha, same here. I'm not a fan of hardbacks myself, but it'll be worth the trouble for this one.

I'll be getting it today hopefully. Flipkart said it's shipped :D

By the way, i've wanted to read the first book but I'm not sure I want to if it gives anything away for the next season of the show.

Can someone just verify that I won't be spoiled if I read the first book? I want to watch the show without knowing any spoilers. Thanks lads :)

Take the one with 4. It's already available and also cheaper. I don't really see why they've split it in 5 instead of 4.

Or why don't you just buy all 4 individually? Between 250-300 bucks each and not imported edition either so you'll get them in 3 days instead of 14-21.

And Flipkart is great. I've made over 40 orders with them and the service is brilliant.

and is the first season of TV related to book 1 only or part of the 2nd book too?

I didn't see the entire series so I can't be sure but since the series is named Game of Thrones I assume it's only based on the first book.

I know that they ended the series just like in the book but cant be 100% sure there arent some minor things that appear in later books. Nothing major though.

At least you were accusing me of being a wolf , I just pulled Feekys name out of thin air

I have no idea what the rules are in here about spoilers given it's a thread about the latest book but just in case....

Jamie being held captive and admitting to Catelyn that he shoved Bram off the wall was not from the 1st book. I can see why they put it in the 1st season though.

I assume Duffer i'm not meant to read that if I don't want to know about events that occur AFTER book 1?

That was the question DE was answering.
