So far away I get up 4am to just watch Utd on TV
. . . all in all a very solid result.

Despite the mindless ranting of the American comentator we were forced to listen to here in the Great White North it was an enjoyable match to watch. I'm not sure who the wanker is that gave the play-by-play but methinks he's a scouser who would have much preferred the Swiss to "win the cheese" and to hear him talk they almost did. . . arsehole!

In reality "Bahl" (pronounciation not spelling) deaserve a lot of credit for both getting to this round as well as playing the way they did today. Arguably unlucky not to have got a second goal at some point but certainly not deserving any points.

Other than their first minute goal and the odd chance, they were definitely second best in the first half. A half where I thought Seba played pretty well and Scholesy took no prisoners. Fortune on the other habd was as good as absent and IMO our weakest link but then again given our choices what could we do? The only player worse, was Phil . . . to his credit he did make a couple of decent tackles but as fitness returns to the United bench I think he'll see fewer and fewer appearance for the mighty Red Devils.

The Basle defense played very well in the first half, cutting out several excellent Ole crosses. It was only fitting IMO that Ruuds first was from another perfect Ole centre.

Again credit to Basle for their energetic start to the second half but failing to take opportunities when they arise (as we all know too well) can be fatal.

Great tactical move by Fergie sliding O'Shea outside and it made all the difference. Even though Veron did go missing a bit, the middle of the back became more solid yet we still maintained our width in attack and I thought Giggs got a bit more of the ball as a result.

Ruud's second can only be descrided as spectacular. . . tight against the goal line inside the 6 yard box with only a sliver of net in sight . . . and he buries it! Very classy, nay feckin' brilliant!

C'mon you Reds!

Sorry Livvie, . . . as I was saying;

Ole was once again magical . . . strong down the right flank and always difficult to contain. For Ruud to be at his best and most dangerous he needs Ole to also be at his "Baby-faced" best...and tonight was no exception

Hopefully not too "over-the-top" Liv?, ;)
