A bit OForlan

What's his part next year? Squad player coming on in last 20? Worthless cup appearances? A role next to Ruud? Another Nevland? Sell him to Spurs?
I am looking forward to seeing him next year, liked his goal in the WC, nealry loved his goal in EC semi's. I reckon he should be settled in nicely after last third of season and also joining pre season training.

I have a really good feeling Forlan will come good for us this coming season. He looked well during the WC and his pace and all round movement on the pitch is something Utd will capitalise on this year

He'll come on as a sub and score in the last 10 minutes against WBA, mark my words

I think fergie will play him in the midfield his wide play is great he looks nervous in front of goal but id be disapointed if he didnt get 15 goals this season

Is he suffering from a lack of confidence or what?

There are two alternatives for strikers with bad luck:

1) They are bad finishers.

2) They are lacking confidence.

How should I know? I haven't seen Forlan play before joining United.

I have seen some of his goals when he was still in Independiente. His finishing is like RVN back in Argentina. Maybe its easier to score there but I would not know. Anywae he has the ability to do well but i think he is trying too hard now. He should stop trying to impress. he jus needs to build up his confidence and perhaps we as fans should give him some slack.

I think he's trying too hard and the harder he tries the more impossible it becomes to score goals. He was quoted in the paper today as saying that he thinks about it all the time even when he's trying to sleep...

at the midfield?? don't even think about that!! he he couldn't get a place in attack, left alone midfield!! :D :D

Sky Sports had a post in about him on their web page yesterday - "DUD or DIAMOND".

It sickened my to see all the Non-Man Utd fans writing in to slate him. The Middlesbrough fans, especially, were loving it.

I think he'll come on leaps and bounds and be one 'ell of a player. Better the old porn star wannabe, Yorkie - God bless his soul.

Lets carry on giving the lad our support and he'll repay us in time.
;)

I think it's stupid to write him off because he hasn't scored goals.

Even if he does turn out to be very non-prolific, I think he could be invaluable in off the ball work, and in creative terms.

From TeamTalk:
United striker Diego Forlan has revealed he is suffering a crisis of confidence after failing to score in 13 league appearances last season.
The Uruguay international arrived at Old Trafford from Argentinian side Independiente in a £7.5m deal in January but failed to find his feet in the Premiership.
Sir Alex Ferguson insists he is happy with Forlan's pre-season displays but with United down to just three senior strikers following the cut-price sale of Dwight Yorke, the pressure is growing on Forlan to hit the goal trail next term.
"I can't explain what has gone wrong," he said. "But it is with me all the time - even when I try to sleep.
"The more I think about it, the harder it becomes."
Forlan admits he has taken time to settle in England but is determined to make the grade at Old Trafford.
He added: "I came without anything. I missed my friends, my family and the culture of Uruguay.
"But I have become good friends with Seba Veron and the young players. I am happy here - it's just that I need to start scoring."
Boss Ferguson, who hopes to sign a fourth forward before the transfer window closes on August 31, is backing Forlan to prove his detractors wrong and come good over the coming season.
He said: "He's only 23 - I would be more worried if he was 33. Nine-tenths of his game is spot on.
"He has to trust himself in front of goal - he just needs that confidence."

If you ask me what he needs is 67,000 fans singing his name and cheering him on.

Bit much to expect the away fans to join in the cheering.
I'm sure they feel sorry for him and eveything, but I can't see them singing his name.

It seems finto is determined to get rid of him ;)

Once he gets his first competitive goal, he'll gain more confidence and score consistently. His technique and control is great.
