80's rap

But who has sampled that "rap prime minister, some say sinister" bit? I can't remember where I've heard it, and it's driving me nuts. Must be something I've listened to several times quite recently.

Greatest generation of rap ever. NWA, Eric B and Rakim, LL Cool J, etc

Early to mid 80s was the best, but Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet in 89 was the best ever rap record, and Fight the Power the best track.

This is what hip-hop is all about. The people of today is only there for the money, hookers and crack. Losers.

Modern rap or RnB as it should be known, is shite & I've not bought any rap or hip-hop tunes due to this. The Ol'Skool is where it'll always be for me. The likes of NWA, Public Enemy, Sugarhill Gang, Beastie Boys etc.. had something special thats pretty much lost these days!

Sorry eZee, forgot the whole 80's bit, and Aint no Half Steppin is a god damn classic!

Onyx! Good shout. Actually have you heard the Judgement Night soundtrack? Early 90's hip-hop/rock crossover album. Some great stuff on it -

Onyx & Biohazrd

Helmet & House of Pain

Loads more on the album like Slayer & Ice T, Sonic Youth & Cypress Hill and Pearl Jam & Cypress Hill i think.

I was listening to 'It takes a nation of millions to hold us back' when I was 5, and all I remember is turning 6, getting 'Fear of a Black Planet' and from that moment, my music taste never changed.

Yeah that first track suits Onyx's style very much.

I can't believe how criminally underated Onyx is. feck Slam. The whole of All We Got Iz Us remains the best produced album of all time.

Onyx - Instrumentals Vol 1 is probably better then any instrumental album that's ever been released, just shades Petestrumentals for me.

And they say everyone changes. Shit, Blaq Poet back in 91' released this under pHd, featuring Cormega.

Now this is from 2009.

No-one alive still does it like Blaq Poet.

I love this band - especially the cross-over with hip-hop/rap & Jazz.

Guru's (Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal) one cool mo-fo & DJ Premier is a cracking producer & Dj
