808s and Heartbreaks

yeppp, first few leaks were good, then I got worried about the quality (of the material) in the next few leaks, but having heard the retail album, he's touched them up and given them character....love it

The first track and track 6 are a touch of class. Completely different stuff, I think this album is better than his last. Thing is, my brother saw him the MEN last week, I'm now really, really jealous.

I have the album but haven't given it a listen yet. Is this a definite improvement from Graduation? Because after the first 6 tracks that album turned to turd.

Give me some links. I once listened to a few songs claiming to be from the new Kanye album, and they were so horrible I almost died.

Its a good album.

Theatre of the Mind by Luda (released same day I think) is a good album too - probably better than 808s

Theatre of the mind is good solid album Southern Gangsta, Do the right thing and Call up the homies are good tracks and the album does exactly what Luda promised each song is like a mini film

Yeah.

The tune with Mayweather is good, and the last track with Common.

IMO, Luda is the most high-profile rapper that is vastly under rated.

I've given it a listen. It's half decent, definitely not what I was expecting. Love Lockdown is annoyingly growing on me, it's something about that bassline. 'Say You Will' is a good track too.

Opinion is split! I personally thought it was brilliant. Some really catchy basslines, and it's good to see him doing something different for once. I can see why people don't like it, but can't help but think that has something to do with 'an open mind'.

I'm a massive Kanye fan (In my top 3 of favourite artists), and am very much looking forward to listening to this album once I've finished downloading it.

It's definitly going to be different from his usual stuff, and if 'Love Lockdown' and 'Robocop' are anything to go by, it should be a quality album, albeit very different from his previous work...

not as good as Graduation, still a few good tunes on it like Robocop though this autotune seems to be making its own type of hip hop at the moment (not saying I dont like it)

After through the wire, it all went abit downhill.

Much like Rap in general, not really been any good since 2001. This comment isn't really relevant to Kayne West, but he is partially to blame anyway so meh.

Kanye West is a bit shit to be fair.

He's not shit, you probably just don't like the genre of music and therefore think because of that he's shit.

He is good at what he does.

I would say rap peaked 04/05, 01 is a bit early as stuff like God Son still hadnt been released in 01

Completely pointless posts like this are exactly the reason why you get mocked every week because you're at the top of the general posters, by far.

You are in fact right. It was just a statement with no argument presented alongside it.

Apologies, though Solius briefly explains why below.

2001 gets my vote, being the year of the most recent hip-hop record to hit me over the head with a stuffed albatross and go "suck my dick, bitch" (I'm obviously talking about cLOUDDEAD).

Rap peaked in 1996. Rap died the 13th of September 1996*

* May be hyperbolic, but in 04/05 rap was lil'john and his grunge crap.

Wow Indeed.

Just finished listening to it first time round. It's an absoloute masterpeice, breathtaking stuff. Yes, it's very very differnet from his usual stuff, but for me, it's a complete success. There are so many fantastic tunes, 'Say you will', 'Paranoid', 'Love lockdown', 'Robocop', 'Coldest winter', 'Street lights'...and the list goes on. You can really feel where this album is from, and rather than just creating catchy tunes, he's signing (not rapping) from the heart, and it's refreshing to hear.

9.5/10

Btw, great interview above ^^^

I like it, completely different than the previous one but I like the whole robot voice thing. I didn't think it would work out that well.
