........................................... TEAM ZLATAN7 .................................................................................... TEAM PROLIFIK ...................................

TEAM ZLATAN7

Gone 4-4-1-1 hoping to use some width to attack with to try and pull pro around a bit if he stays 4222.

Both wingers have ability to tuck in and contest the midfield if needed with zidane basically a free role able to drop back and attack the box.

Keane and viera hopefully enough to close a lot down, viera with running power with the ball and Keane underrated at playing the ball forward by some

Anyway, good game pro

TEAM PROLIFIK

We continue with the 4-2-2-2 setup. It works because not only do we have two excellent attacking full-backs in Lahm and Maldini to provide width, but the front four of KDB, Iniesta, Messi, and Henry are all comfortable floating between wide and central areas, making them incredibly difficult to pick up. KDB will be more direct in his driving central runs to support the front two, while Iniesta frequently drifts infield to aid the build-up play. Given the insane technical quality of not only our midfield and attack but also our back four (Lahm and Scirea in particular), we should dominate possession regardless of the opposition.

Out of possession, we drop into a medium block with an intense press once the ball approaches the halfway line. KDB and Iniesta cover the flanks, while Messi, who still has a high-defensive work-rate in this phase of his career, comes inside to press the deepest opposition midfielder. Should you get past our hard-working attackers and the double-pivot of Rodri and Schweinsteiger, you then have to deal with a GOAT-level back four of Lahm-Nesta-Scirea-Maldini with Buffon behind them. When we win the ball, we have terrifying counter-attacking potential with Messi, Henry, and KDB carrying the ball forward and/or picking out the killer pass; if such an opportunity doesn't present itself immediately, we recycle possesion and keep probing until one of our creative geniuses is able generate an opening.

Maybe I've seen his team not change too much for a while now so I'm not as big on prolifik's team as I once was. Prolifik would still probably win this, but I like this Zlatan team quite a bit. Proper 4-4-1-1.

I know pro is clear favourite through this draft but I think I’ve got more than enough danger in the wings and upfront to cause problems through this match.

All the best pro

Does anyone remember a side playing a 4411 with wide midfielders and a 10 who was more of an 8 rather than a 9.5?

I think Zlatan has the personnel to pull off a win against pro's juggernaut, he has tenacious, hard working and pacey lineup that could stifle the possession based game and hurt on the counter. It would probably better represented by going Juve late 90's with Beckham as one of the CM's. Also If anyone is going to cause that backline trouble it's is Ronaldo who gave Nesta and Maldini some torrid times.

Thanks, not sure if I could have done any better.
Damp squib of a game I think everyone has just decided pro has won the whole draft already

Zlatan's is just a bit short sell on the attack, compared to prolifik's. If it's Platini or Maradona instead of Zidane there, ...

Anyway, still one hell of 4-4-1-1.

much better from zlatan then in our game but personally im not a fan of ronaldo as lone striker nor i like midfield two of two b2b midfielders.

pro is pretty much unbeatable, goat defence with messi in his element supported with an insane midfield.

Scholes was more of a second-striker rather than a playmaker then. Also Giggs often played at SS in this team with Scholes LM.
I take your point that Scholes was more of a box-crasher than Zidane when playing in that more advanced gig, although I still think he was much more of a midfielder than a 9.5. Either way I think United’s shape was very similar as a 4-5-1, where it was 3 midfielders rather than a second striker like Yorke/Sheringham/Cantona. It was very different in feel to the earlier 442 teams.

It was a regular tactic used by English sides, particularly for tough away games around the late 70s, 80s and 90s. I think Forest had a similar set-up at times. And at Euro 88 England played a midfield against the Netherlands of Steven, Barnes, McMahon, and Robson with Hoddle floating ahead behind Lineker as the lone striker. It was more about keeping it tight and nicking a goal if possible, rather than going out to dominate the game.

That's fair.

Good game pro. All the best for next round.

Thanks for all the comments, I’m slowly learning and happy to just get a few votes at this dizzy end of the competition
