EAP Tactics

Formation & Tactics:

Standard 4-3-1-2

Strong defence led by Baresi and McGrath. Balanced fullbacks in Briegel and Tassotti. Luis Fernandez anchors the midfield, with two creative and all action midfielders in Lerby and Schuster flanking him. Platini is the focal point of attack, with Kalle and Elkjaer supporting him.

This is a dynamic team with both midfielders capable of supporting out wide and centrally. Same with both forwards who are great at stretching defenses, and creating for others as much as scoring themselves. It is a perfect set up for Platini to perform at this peak.

I think the front 4 for Eden are excellent. Lineker and Stoichkov making runs for Maradona whilst Figo stays wide works really nicely. I just think De Boer at LB isn't complementary with Stoichkov and the midfield, plus Xavi is not going to get on with Maradona.

EAP has a very solid and complementary line-up, someone who is a bit better than Tassotti going forward would improve the threat going forward although Schuster can drift wide right and so can Kalle so it is not a huge issue. Platini has a great platform to perform here.

Eden's front four is awesome, even if it's not a setup I feel maximises Xavi. I wish he'd found a way to start Thuram at CB - I like Puyol personally, but quality-wise he and Popescu aren't a match for Edgar's duo. Barca is kind of tough to build a great defence with in general.

That midfield Edgar built around Platini is a thing of beauty. Tassotti is meh going forward but Schuster and Kalle can mitigate that.

I think Edgar has a more balanced XI with better synergy between the players.

Popescu was excellent imo, I prefer him over Belodedici. Though he's probably not the best match with slow'ish Frank de Boer.

Can't help but drawn to Edgar's defence. And Platini.

Eden's wing-play with Maradona does seem more attractive to watch.

Obviously a simple video isn't really representative, but he does seem fairly balanced between attack and defence.

Let me watch a few of his Milan videos and comment back in a bit.

he went forward sometimes but was poor when he did

Defence is what ultimately cost Eden, but I would be delighted to hear why Xavi wouldn't get along with Maradona?
