Strong core and base which allows the Brazilian trio to work their magic. The front 3 are flexible and their synergy to combine will make them difficult to stop with the constant interchanging. On the break, the pace will be particularly difficult to handle and Koeman's area will be a particular point to target.

Redondo at in the middle of the park will provide that controlling influence and help link attack with defense, while Essien will be using his boundless energy around the midfield supporting Redondo. Hernandez who has been one of the best wingbacks in the world over the last few years will provide width down the left, the attacking version of Panucci (RM days) will do the same on the right, however he will also be able to tuck in and use his defensive abilities when required.

The defense is pretty self explanatory, Italian grit and tactical nous (KHS was essentially adopted Italian playing for almost a decade in Milan) able to soak up pressure and unleash the attackers on the counter. They will be particularly effective in stopping the opponent's main threat which in my view is Brehme's crosses into Klinsmann and Gullit with all 3 physically imposing and great in the air.

TEAM HIMANNV
zpIBuV2.png

Formation: 'Tis the season

Tactics:
  • This is a Serie A team of it's time when it was the strongest league in the world. The approach is strong defense, but also technical skill and quick vertical play. Tactical discipline, while also harnessing the special genius of standout players.
  • Gullit and Matthaus have prominent roles in this set up. The 3 man midfield allows them flexibility for one of them to venture further forward when on the ball, progress one flank, or offer defensive cover on their side of the pitch.
  • The fullbacks run their flank with some support from players on their side of the pitch.
  • Off the ball, the team will be compact and mostly zonal, as was true for the tactics of their time.
  • As was the case in the previous round, there is some emphasis on the synergy of players and likelihood of combinations that work. The group of Scudetto winning Inter players combined with a few other players who know the league well makes the tactics easier to follow and more proven cohesiveness

Player in focus: Rudd Gullit. Is there anything this man cannot do? Physical specimen extraordinaire, pace like lightening, power, goal scoring, dribbling, heading, tackling, passing.. He's got it all.

Dont know why you'd change the formation. Gullit's peak perfectly fits your previous round team. And dropping Koeman of all people. He was the star of that team. Please dont say you got scared of Fenomeno with such a stellar back 5. Even this current set of players works much better in a 4-2-3-1 instead of a christmas tree IMO. Clearly the better personnel on average, but thumbs down on tactics. Calling it a draw but if forced to vote at gun point, probably would vote for 2mufc0 who himself would have been better off going with a front 2 with Kaka in the hole.

Yeah, not a fan of dropping Koeman as well, but I think this tactics suits Matthaus more going forward with a dedicated DM and Littbarski/Laudrup tendency to drift wide while adding Gullit into equation. Just too much firepower imo. It doesn't help that in a direct fullback/wingback battle which is pretty crucial Himan has a better duo.

Ronaldo will score on the counter, but overall giving the edge to He-Man.

Not really sold on either teams.

2mufc's defence doesn't look cohesive and Himannv needs Koeman in there. Panucci was fairly balanced RB and not sure he suits this set up.
Gullit in Litti's R1 place would have been more smoother, but then I do like the switch to back 4.

Given it to himann

Probably swapping Litbarski with Gullit there, would give himman’s attack a more oomph. While still not losing its christmas shape

dont get the koeman lovefest, hman lost feck all with not having him as he has Dunga in DM position who will spray passes for fun while Bergomi as CB is very good on the ball + much better defender then Koeman who would get destroyed by Fenomeno and Kaka

no idea who he dropped for gullit but agree with iso, gullit should play behind the striker.

Nothing wrong with the defence all defenders in positions they were extremely good at. Panucci is fine for what he is being asked to do, he will be the less attacking off the two full backs and will tuck into the midfield when required. Full back quality is not as good as I would like but it's just the way the cookie crumbled in this draft for me.

I know we had a moan during the draft regarding the restrictions and draft order but I think it's good we have less boring goat fests and less used players get a run out. I particularly like Hernandez such an entertaining player and someone that would fit in perfectly for Amorim's full back position, but I doubt united will pull out the cash for him.

I was mulling over doing this to be fair, it's difficult to truly represent the interchanging front 3 in a static formation picture, in the game it would probably naturally end up that way as Rivaldo liked the inside left position, Ronaldo working the centre as well as channels and Kaka bursting down the middle.
