- Time to go full muppet with a highly attacking 4-2-2-2 in the classic Brazilian tradition.
- The 1982 vintage's achilles heel was their susceptibility on the counter, so to that end we're fielding a much stronger CB pairing, and allowing a little pragmatism in preferring the specialist DM Casemiro to Cerezo.
- Neymar plays as the nominal second striker, who will peel wide frequently, both in search of 1v1 dribbling opportunities and to create space for the AMs to surge into. Between that and Careca leading the line and occupying the CBs, there should be opportunities for Pele and Zico to do damage here.
- Possibly pointless bit of trivia that I'm including anyway: Falcao and Maradona played against each other twice, with Falcao ending up on the winning team on both occasions. He outperformed Diego in terms of end product too, notching a goal and an assist compared to a sole assist for Maradona.

Tactics:
- Medium block with more zonal marking, but there is a conscious effort to reduce the spaces for the opposition to operate.
- Amoros operates as a more traditional flank hugging wingback, while Brehme cuts in more.
- Most of the play goes through Diego and he has two players in front of him with Gullit sometimes peeling wide or dropping deeper to sync up with Maradona, while Klinsmann stays up top and occupies the defense.
- The back three generally have ball playing skills. They offer a solid base with which they can progress the ball but also have enough defensive solidarity. One of them playing in the attackers quickly when a counter is on is the name of the game.
- The system allow for one of the back three to sometimes venture forward and create an imbalance elsewhere, with Koeman being the most likely to do this. This will be when we have possession.
- The midfield two are both industrious with Dunga being the more defensive one and Matthaus being more attacking in general.
