Released tomorrow. Looks interesting, and comes from the same crowd who gave us 'Demon's Souls.' Apparently it is almost a remake of the first Zelda game.

Anyone?

Umm... this arrived this morning as well. Probably not going to see much game time tonight what with Alan Wake and all, but it looks a proper throwback and a giggle.

I've heard that the sidequests are plentiful but hard to find.

almost got a 3d tv last night
thought id say.

Did you order from Shopto? When you pre order they normally have games on your doorstep the day before they are released.

I'll probably pick this up. It's not a full price release so it would be rude not to.

Just ordered this from Shopto. £19.85, hard to argue with that.

I'm still waiting for Xander's review. :p

I would review it, but there's not much to reivew seeing as it is Legend of Zelda.

The music is pretty good, in an 8 bit style. Dungeons are pretty easy, boss battles a bit trickier. The world map is fun to mess around in and in there's lots of little nods to Demon's Souls, one house in particular is full of tid bits about it.

There's a few mini-games about which are good time wasters, and there are side quests the thing is there's no log to tell you what they are and what to do. So if you don't play for a while and come back you'll forget them.

A blast from the past and a good game for a giggle, not going to win any awards (the main story kicks off because of a lack of tourism) but still a lot of fun and for 20 quid you can't argue.

Good stuff, thanks. Rough idea of gameplay time?

And how did they get this released without being sued into oblivion by Nintendo?

 No idea, it's such a blatant rip-off/homage. You have to gather crystals to save a kingdom from an evil force, sound familiar?

I'd say about 10 to 15 hours. Probably less seeing as i dick about a lot, i've still not finished it yet though as Alan Wake and Red Dead dragged me away.

I just started this yesterday. As an old school gamer, I'm loving it so far, but Xander, I have a problem. I keep running out of bastard torches. Any advice?

I'm two castles in, just beat the second boss. I don't reckon I've played more than two hours. Am I missing out on a bunch of side missions or something?

This game is hard as feck. I am currently stuck in the Flame castle. It's driving me up the wall. Still playing, though...

I've not played it for a while! I did the first two dungeons without doing any sidequests, but i got stuck trying to get to the desert dungeon.

Torches i had to buy a load from the shops and pray.

Yeah, I discovered shops shortly after I posted that.

I don't recall the desert dungeon being too difficult to find. I do remember there are a lot of one way "conveyor belts" that can be a pain in the ass.

At the minute, I keep running out of magic (even with potions), which is essential in order to progress at certain parts in the Flame dungeon.

I may have to go back to it then and try and find out where i'm going wrong.

This game really doesn't hold your hand does it! I was wandering around aimlessly for ages at the start before i found the shops and upgraded my sword. Have you found the cave that's dedicated to Demon's Souls yet?

Yep, a nice touch. I still have the hero's soul I collected, no idea if it actually has a use or not.

I only discovered the other day what the small blocks are for. I found a cave in which a King resides, and he will sell you new swords for small blocks.

It's a refreshing change, I think. Games that hold your hand through every little thing (which is most of them these days) get on my nerves.

Yep, it's definitely something that's gone from gaming over time. The Old Zelda's used to give you a brief idea of where to go but didn't tell you how (example being the way to the last orb in Link to the Past, took me ages to find the entrance to that cave). Nowadays they'll sit you on a path and say run doggy, one of the reasons i doubt i'll play through FF13 again any time soon.

feck this game in it's stupid ear. I finally made it to the end of game boss, but the last level is all that was shitty in 8 bit games. I absolutely hated it. I won't spoil it for you, though.

I will say this, constantly save in dungeons. Every time you find a key, press a switch, open a door, save the thing. It will save you a lot of frustration.
