2024 U.S. Elections | Trump wins

He had an average lead of about 10 points when he quit the primary in 2016. Hillary's was about 5 at that stage.

Could these hypothetical numbers be because Trump spent all his time attacking her and not Bernie ?

Those hypothetical numbers could be because of many reasons. One of them is that trump was the second most unpopular nominee in presidential history at that time, and faced the most unpopular. There's a reason her campaign and husband encouraged him to run in the first place.

In this case, he would have been facing someone with a +15 approval rating (as opposed to heavily negative), with no ongoing FBI investigation to drop bombshells in October, and with an opposition to free trade agreements that would have undercut one of his major areas of support - something Trump admitted on a recording years later.

Would Bernie have won by 10? No. Some attacks would have stuck, wavering Republicans would have come home. Would he have won the electoral votes by winning the three midwestern states she lost? Yes - all evidence points to it. It's better to argue with things that have evidence rather than based on vibes alone*.

*- Biden was a slightly stronger candidate than Bernie in 2020, based on polls, and without polling I would guess Bernie has a much narrower path that doesn't include Georgia.

They could've simply been because Bernie was always a hypothetical candidate with no negatives that would've been covered if he was an actual nominee. It would've been an interesting race though.

I'm not sure there are actual words to describe them
I'll try: the Republicans governing would be like sticking your dick in a meat grinder. Then you scoop up the ground meat, make sausages out of it, but when you go to cook them, you trip and accidentally stick your face in the deep fryer. Meanwhile, your phone rings, and it's your girlfriend telling you she's dumped you for the dishwasher.

The Clark Kent glasses have slipped and [gasp] it’s Tucker Carlson

I love how having thousands of classified documents scattered all around a fecking hotel where anyone could have access, not to mention eye witness accounts of him sharing them and discussing them with just about anybody, AND the rumours of foreign agents infiltrating the hotel too. Lying about having them and refusing to return them. AND taped recordings and witness statements of actual election interference and attempts to change results....

Oh, and sexual assault and rape.......

And using campaign funds to pay off a porn star he has repeatedly lied about sleeping with, while he was married and his wife carrying his youngest child.....

Are classed as.... 'at most' Minor bookkeeping misdemeanors....

FFS

It's disgusting how things so serious can just be brushed off as inconsequential or minor issues unworthy of consequence by the side that claims to be the party of law and order. Hypocrisy over truth or do as we say not as we do should be their party motto. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad and destructive.

But remember folks, Obama wore a tan suit!

Skybet odds for next president:

Trump 1.62
Harris 5.00
Biden 8.00

It is bizarre to me, and this is an aside, how the whole prom thing is basically what the US presidential elections are ("first lady"). How, in any serious republic, is that not a little mental.

I saw that, but I think as usual, he's talking absolute bollocks considering Ben Carson, Peter Navarro and Russ Vought are all heavily involved and they were all members of Trump's cabinet when he was in the White House. It's also fishy as feck considering strong rumours surrounding Ben Carson being considered as his VP as he's always been close to Trump and it's thought he would help turn some undecided black voters and help relate to those already on board.

So if Trump says it's not true, then it's probably the complete opposite and he's balls deep in project 25.

They had Brexit as a 7/2 long shot the week before the referendum and 2/1 the night of the election. One of my biggest ever regrets was not putting money on that.
What do you think of Harris being so much shorter than Biden though

It is impressive to contradict yourself that many times in a tweet.

Knows nothing about them, but knows enough to say that some of the things they want are terrible, but also wishes them good luck with everything they do.

The problem runs deeper than the Obama/Biden crowd. Its more so down to the fact that the party are run by a clan of elites who are out of touch with the public and more interested in emplacing people that fit a specific racial and gender profile instead of someone who can actually win. You see it today in their talking points, where you have DNC operatives suggesting black women are the backbone of Democratic voters and that the party dare not entertain any other Biden replacements other than Harris. If they Dems lose, they will have no one other than the people who run the Dem party to blame.

"Clan of Elites", "The Deep State", "The Establishment". Whatever you want to call it. The Dems are not countering that narrative. If anything, they are embracing it by sticking with Biden. Whilst an actual elite/deep state/establishment billionare rides roughshod over democracy to do as he wishes. The concern from the Dem establishment seems more to do with him not playing by the usuall rules rather than anything he stands for.

The USA desperately needs a third party. The Dems slip further to the right each election (although dumb ass Republicans think they are on the far left) and the Republicans are almost so far right they make our Conservatives look like Communists.

Something needs to change dramatically. Although I think it's possibly too late as I said.in a previous post, civil war or national divorce is looking more and more likely.

The double standard the media and some folks on this board have of Biden vs Trump is gross. Less than 1% of elected Dems call for Biden to withdraw and it's headline news for a month. Trump says the most insane shit everyday and they chalk it up to Trump being Trump and ignore it.

Trump gets called out constantly for the batshit nonsense he spouts. He's a running joke across the globe to everyone bar his MAGA cult and associated media. Problem is those who support him don't care if he's an idiot or are just too stupid to realise he is.

That was only in public. By all off the record accounts a lot of elected Dems in the House were privately saying he should withdraw and you had some surprising media Dems calling for his withdraw the night of the debate like Van Jones.

"Trump being Trump" is bad, as he is widely disliked.

There are like two people in the entire CE who don't prefer Biden over Trump.

The debate was horrendous but if it gets rid of Biden it will all be worth it.

Before the debate Trump had a decent chance of winning, post debate he is almost certain to win. If the democrats pick a strong replacement candidate he has almost no chance.

Biden needs ousting if necessary. This election isn’t about the next four years it’s about the future of democracy and world stability.

Initially it seemed some momentum was building up for Biden to step down but now it feels that has died down a bit.

That just isn't the case. Trump is the clear favorite either way. The replacement has to build national name recognition in no time, Republicans will be able to easily attack the chaos of the Democratic party, and the the new candidate will be put under a lot of scrutiny and new negative stories are sure to pop up.

I think there are some clear upsides to switching, but it doesn't make the Democrat the favorite all of a sudden.

They're going to sleep walk into Biden being the candidate simply because they're not brave enough individually or as group to challenge that status quo.

Despite them knowing that it'll lead to a loss, it doesn't exactly scream caring about the people and stopping Trump being the most important thing does it.

More needs to come out in public about it, too many are still hiding.

Okay almost no chance is perhaps a rather sizeable exaggeration.

Would you disagree though that if the Democrats act now and get someone credible in to replace Biden it gives them a far better chance of winning? Amounting to going from having almost no chance to having a strong chance.
