Madrid, Istanbul or Tokyo?

Who would you like to see win the vote today? And if they differ who do you thik will triumph in the end?

Tokyo is going to win. Madrid was just eliminated, which is for the best. A nation with 50-60% youth unemployment shouldn't be spending billions on the Olympics, especially since it would likely be German money. No matter who hosts it, it won't make more money than is spent.

Tokyo would probably put on an amazing show.

So on that basis, Istanbul will win.

Istanbul gets pretty hot during the Summer doesn't it? If they get it maybe they should think of moving the Olympics to the Winter

Would create jobs, no?

Short-term construction jobs that would more likely be filled by North African immigrants. Maybe some hospitality-type jobs, but the money could be better spent elsewhere. How many jobs were created by the London Olympics that are long-term?

With Tokyo having copied the London model and used some of their team i think we can claim a bit of that too. ;)

Hardly, not with how events start in the morning and continue well into the evening.

If not for the riots of recent months and Syria Istanbul might have stood a better chance. Still, perhaps they can make a play for some matches in Platini's pan-European Euros tournamen.

I think we can have a reasonable degree of confidence in their preparations, the Fukushima situation struck me as overstated considering its distance from the capital.

60-36 in favour to Tokyo, pretty convincing.

Well, at the terminus of each Olympic Games, the official announcement is that they welcome "the youth of the world to gather in [name of next host city]. Perhaps it could be changed to "Since you're all unemployed, we invite the youth of the world to gather in ... , since you don't have anything else to do, anyway."
