A film to look out for perhaps, it will be out next summer and seems nicely placed to be pitched as the season's major blockbuster.

And with director Roland Emmerich already having brought us the likes of Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow, we know at least from this far away that the visual effects will be quite something.

It is one of a few films currently either being planned or in the works, that centres around the premise of the Mayan prophecy that the world will experience some form of cataclysmic event in 2012.

Anyone here know anything further about it?
 
I say the world is gonna end in 2011 so I am gonna make a movie about that

If it flops, the prequel to The Da Vinci Code, Angles & Demons [the better book too IMO] should have been released in May so we will hopefully have had a decent spring.
 
I can see Family Guy doing an episode or clip about the Mayan calender ... everyone is paranoid and getting ready for the world to end. They start talking about the calendar and they go to the flashback and you have this old fecker who's been working on this calendar for most of his life ... when one day he just croaks and no one feels like finishing the calendar. Mystery solved.
