My mate saw a copy quite a long time ago and he really enjoyed it. I'm definitely going to check it out as soon as I get the chance. I prefer horror films with an element of mystery as it's more scary when you not quite sure who/what is terrorising the victim.
i got a copy from work, i only watched about 45mins of it, going to keep it for friday night for me and the mrs to watch....

considering who the lead actor was, i was very disappointed
It was rubbish; a real waste of fine actors by giving them both a weak script with cheap ineffective and cliched scare tactics.

It and Silver Bullet weren't too bad. I especially thought Tim Curry was fantastic as Pennywise in It.
The Shining was his best-novel-turned movie. Stanley Kubrick is a fecking genious director though.
This was the first 'horror' film i've watched since one of the Saw ones years ago. I thought i'd toughened up a bit, wasn't scary at all. The build up was worse than the bite.
It starts off promising, the build up of tension is great and you really feel that something bad is going to happen but you just keep waiting for it and never really appears. It starts to get really bloody weird, like he's crawling through air vents and these little goblins are chasing him and he's freezing under a cover and then the room's on fire and then he wakes up after an hour and the room is normal again - the whole thing just didn't make any sense to me

Agreed. The movie didn't scare me at all. But I'll take 1408 over any of the other torture-porn-horror-flicks out there today.
I don't think any film can scare an adult. But yeah, it was a lame film. No idea how it received high ratings on imdb. Kids?
Kids. Imdb ratings CANNOT be trusted. Most of the people voting are kids who think that Transformers/Die hard 4.0 are the best movies ever made.

I had the misfortune to watch this last night.
To be honest at one point I thought it could easily go on to become a decent 'horror' film and then it just went completely insane. Was probably within two minutes of him reaching room 1408 when it dies on its arse, and from then on in it was just utter rubbish.
It's on SkyAnytime at the minute, so if anybody's considering watching this, then please don't waste your time.

When I got round to watching this film, I was disappointed with it too. I lost interest half way through and I can barely remember anything that happens in the movie so I'd say it's shit and not worth anyone's time.
