Liverpool 1-9 Man Utd (Academy) 6th April 2024
That was an actual scoreline by the way, and not a reference to Klopp’s 1 Premier League Title in the 9 seasons he was at Liverpool.

Just as Real Madrid are World renowned for their European Cups (they won the first 5), Manchester United are World renowned for their youth system (we won the first 5 FA Youth Cup’s, produced two Ballon d’Or winners from our youth system in Charlton and Best, and have had ‘A player from our youth development levels included in each and every one of our first-team matchday squads since October 1937’ - https://www.manutd.com/en/academy/history).

The match between United’s Academy and Liverpool’s, produced a truly remarkable scoreline. For our Academy players to produce that performance at the training ground of Liverpool’s first team, added extra gloss to an already brilliant result for our youth team players.

Man Utd 4-3 Liverpool (Men’s first team) 17th March 2024
The media talk in the build up to this Old Trafford, St. Patrick’s Day, FA Cup Quarter-Final fixture was contrasting for both teams.
All of the talk regarding United was about the stadium, and whether the iconic ‘Theatre of Dreams’ should be redeveloped or a new stadium built altogether. Any United historians would have known that the opening fixture at Old Trafford was way back in 1910, and against Liverpool, on a day that saw the away team win the fixture 4-3

All of the talk regarding Liverpool going into this Cup match was about their quest for a ‘Quadruple’, with a visit to Dublin for the Europa League Final already on their wish list, and them wanting to win the FA Cup in Klopp’s final season also on their wish list too...

I have seen Manchester United score late winning goals in the past, most memorably in ’99, and more recently in a match after the referee had already whistled for the end of the game! (See Brighton away in 2020 when Fernandes scored a winning penalty with the last kick of the match, before the referee blew the final whistle for a second time).

When Amad Diallo scored the winning goal against Liverpool in added on time (at the end of extra time), it was an incredible way to win the match.

We then progressed past a spirited Coventry team in the Semi-Final, and we then went on to win the Final against Manchester City, who were:
  • The current holders of the FA Cup
  • The newly-crowned Premier League champions
  • The current Champions League title holders
  • The current Club World Cup title holders
...and before the match, the same City team was spoken about in an article on the Official Premier League website as them being arguably ‘The best the Premier League has ever seen’ (https://www.premierleague.com/news/4019059) - which not only made our Quarter-Final win against Liverpool extra special because we actually went on to win the FA Cup, but also because we did so against all the odds.

For our Academy graduates Garnacho and Mainoo to have been the players who scored the goals in the Final, was incredible.

Liverpool 7-0 Man Utd (Men’s first team) 5th March 2023
If someone had said before it happened, that Liverpool would go 7 consecutive Premier League matches (between January 2005 and March 2008) without scoring a goal against Manchester United, no-one would have believed so.
If someone had said before it happened, that Liverpool would score 7 goals in a Premier League match against Manchester United, no-one would have believed so.

Both happened.

In the seasons that United kept 7 consecutive league clean sheets against Liverpool, United collected two Premier League titles, in 2007 and 2008

In the season that Liverpool scored 7 goals in a league match against United, Liverpool collected nothing.
“Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles.” – Sir Alex Ferguson

Man Utd 6-0 Liverpool (Women’s team) 15th January 2023
Going into the match, United’s women’s team had not conceded a goal in the first half of any league fixture so far that season. Not only did that run continue, but they also shut out Liverpool for the whole of the match, and recorded 6 goals while doing so; with García, Russo, Ladd, Thomas, and Williams getting on the scoresheet, along with an own goal scored by Liverpool’s player Koivisto.

Man Utd 0-5 Liverpool (Men’s first team) 24th October 2021
75 years after Manchester United went to Anfield and won a league fixture 5-0, Liverpool went to Old Trafford for a league fixture and did the same.
Liverpool then followed up the 5-0 and 3 points at Old Trafford with a 4-0 win at Anfield in the next fixture between the teams. Making it a scoreline of 9-0 in consecutive league matches.

When Manchester United won 5-0 at Anfield, they followed that up with another 5-0 victory in the next fixture between the sides. Making it a scoreline of 10-0 in consecutive league matches.

I'm sorry, but adding academy and womens teams results screams copium.

The recent high scoring results between Manchester United and Liverpool have happened across the Academies (youth), the Men’s teams, and the Women’s teams.

To ignore the Academies of both clubs, and the Women’s teams of both clubs, and only mention the Men’s teams of both clubs; would be disrespectful to both Manchester United and Liverpool, and would scream other things

I had to check if I’m not on RAWK for a second. Were the results for Women U-12, Oldboys and the 5-a-side teams also as high scoring?

Nonense, only people interested in academy football would care about that result. Likewise, women's football is nowhere near as popular as the men's game. Like it or not, in the part of the sport that matters to most fans we've been awful compared to them. No amount of bringing in other games from less popular parts of the game will make that look better.

You are aware that it was our Academy graduates that scored the goals to win us the FA Cup.
Liverpool also secured a trophy this season with the help of their Academy graduates.

Women are a large part of the fanbase of both clubs, and it is great that both Manchester United and Liverpool have Women’s teams.

If you do not understand that the Academies (youth), the Men’s teams, and the Women’s teams, are all a massive part of both clubs, then maybe you never will.

Not relevant, they are first team players. Most united fans DO NOT watch the academy.

Again who cares if women are a large part of the fanbase? Guess what? They overhwelmingly watch the Men's team and always will. Sorry to break it to you, but this nonsense about high scoring games is just you coping.
