Someone would have to pay me to watch some of the 'sports' on display as well.

That's funny that you say that, because I think the Olympics are the one instance when I actually watch some obscure sports that I would never watch otherwise with a slight interest.
That's true to some extent.
But there are some 'sports' that you can't really expect people to watch. Shooting, archery, kayaking...
