I think he has more intensity in his game than Mather (which are my main criticisms of Sam) but also more tiny (this can change over next couple of years). I think he is a number 10 but like Mather would be probably deployed out wide until he reaches a certain stage of his career.

Despite still ended up with a very good G/A I think he's a bit of a victim of being back and forth between the U18s and U21s groups (and he's basically our best winger in both group especially when Forson isn't there). Disrupting his flow a bit and sometimes he's on the bench for both teams...

Next season will be interesting. With his meteoric rise I would not be surprised if he will make a wave during pre-season.

Tyjon already scored 2 in 3 appearances for Blackburn U21s as a schoolboy. We need a forward for the next year U18s intake so make sense. Our second year group next season will be very strong so the first year signings are gonna be crucial for our FA Youth Cup ambition.

We are short of striker and right back in that age group. After that will be either a midfielder (we have Bailey and Ibragimov but no number 6) or winger (we have Mantato and Thwaites can play there as well). It's a relatively small intake at this point, presumably to balance the huge intake...

We didn't *release him on the same day*. The decision to not offer him scholarship has been informed and known for a while. This was simply the last game of the season for the U16s.

Doesn't matter? It's not the first U21s team that don't perform well in the league. In fact we rarely did well at this level post-Warren Joyce. (on the other hand the results at this level rarely even tell anything with how everyone have to chop-change their teams)

He's already an U21s starter for us this season whilst still being eligible for the U18s. We don't do that frequently for goalkeepers so that speaks volume about how highly the club rates him.
