  1. English cricket thread

Unfortunate but time to move on. He'll be turning 36 during the next Ashes and his body is clearly shot to pieces at this point. Unfortunate but it is what it is. Bigger issue, England's bowling options right now must be at their lowest point in decades. Really poor.
  2. That Alvarez penalty

A lot of this talk is detracting from the very pertinent observation that Oblak's attempt to save Rudiger's penalty was laughable. Deserved to lose for that alone. That was one of the most action-packed shootouts I've seen - from Vini coming off, Alvarez' controversy, Llorente penalty and Oblak...
  3. VAR, Refs and Linesmen | General Discussion

Then I don't see how the videos can definitely prove that the referee's on-field decision to allow the penalty to stand was incorrect.
  4. That Alvarez penalty

Rubbish decision - not enough evidence in the videos we've seen to confirm the referee's on-field decision to allow the penalty was incorrect. Horrible rule to not allow a retake.
  5. VAR, Refs and Linesmen | General Discussion

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought VAR was there to inform the referee to change their mind if it can definitively prove that the on-field decision is the wrong one? I'm still struggling to see how any replay of the Alvarez penalty definitively proves the on-field decision was wrong -...
  6. Mason Mount's Many Misfortunes (please don't make another waste of money post)

There isn't a club on this planet who'll be interested in him after his last 2 seasons here. Honestly, my pay-to-play Sunday XIs would think twice.
  7. Manchester United vs Real Sociedad

Who the feck plays in defence? Maz - Lindelof - Heaven?
  8. Liverpool 2024-25 | Most definitely winning the League Cup on Sunday

Haha they may only win the league now. Sucks to be them.
  9. New Stadium | 100k Stadium to be built - design visualisation released

I mean, I get not liking it for it's unique design but that's a nonsense comment and seems petty/deliberately obtuse. I'm sure they wouldn't have released that had things been going better on the pitch.
  10. New Stadium | 100k Stadium to be built - design visualisation released

Well said. Our history has always been steeped in embracing change and being the pioneers of English football. Our most successful periods have in large been down to the managers/owners of the time being willing to embrace new ways of doing things, prioritizing new tournaments and implementing...
  11. New Stadium | 100k Stadium to be built - design visualisation released

On the design, I think people are being a bit too precious. I actually like it's ambition and break from tradition. Let's be honest, if it had been too similar to OT then people would have questioned why we're rebuilding, and had we redeveloped the board would have been attacked for lack of...
  12. New Stadium | 100k Stadium to be built - design visualisation released

Also - can we open a poll on who we think will be the first player to get injured at the new stadium?
  13. New Stadium | 100k Stadium to be built - design visualisation released

Anything on whether the old statues around Old Trafford will be kept? Will there be space for the Munich clock/memorials, and will the stands keep their names?
