Brighton & Hove Albion (nicknamed The Seagulls and Albion) are a professional football club based in Brighton & Hove. The club was first formed as Brighton & Hove United on 24 June 1901, and the name was quickly changed to Brighton & Hove Albion. The club took the place of a defunct club, Brighton & Hove Rover, in the Southern League In the Southern League they won their only national honour to date, the FA Charity Shield, by defeating Football League Champions Aston Villa in 1910. There had previously been Old Brightonians, representing the area in the FA Cup in the 19th Century. The club initially played at the Hove County Ground, with a few games were also at Goldstone Ground that was used by Hove F.C. From 1902 onwards, Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. and Hove F.C. shared the Gladstone Ground. In 1920, 19 years after the club was formed, they were elected to the Football League's new Third Division.

Mismanagement brought Brighton close to relegation from the Football League to the Conference which they narrowly avoided in 1997 and 1998. A boardroom takeover saved Brighton from liquidation, and following successive promotions they returned to the second tier of English football in 2002, from then on playing in the second and third tiers of English football until the conclusion of the 2016-17 season, where the club earned promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history, marking the end of a 34-year absence from the top flight. Bighton's fans consider Crystal Palace to be their biggest rival with matches between them termed the M23 derby, and they play their home games at Falmer Stadium.

    Team should be...

    -----------------De Gea-----------------
    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw
    ---------Pogba-------Matic---------
    ---------------Fernandes---------------
    Greenwood----------Rashford
    -----------------Martial-----------------

Subs: Henderson, Bailly, Williams, Fred, McTominay, VDB, Ighalo

Hope it's the same result as the last time we went there rather than the two times before that :nervous:

Likely going to twice down there next week. Going to be real tough as they look a good side now.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Don't feck about and go full strength, we need a win.

    Rashford-Martial-Greenwood
    ----------------Bruno

    Shaw-Maguire-Bailly-AWB
    -------------DDG

Henderson, VDB, Williams, Lindelof, Matic, Lingard, Ighalo

    DDG
    AWB Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Matic
    Fernandes VdB
    Greenwood Martial Lingard
Lindelof needs a break and in any case I believe Bailly is the better natural partner to Maguire - they complement each other well. Hopefully he stays fit and gets a nice run in the team, so he can be that beast of a player again like in the early days. Pogba and Rashford still seem to be coming off their long layoffs although I recognise they need minutes and would expect them to come on at some point. Lingard looked decent today and on a better day could have scored.

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw

Let's get the 3 points on the board. I can see a draw though - Brighton look pretty good so far. They seem to be properly stabilising themselves as a tough PL team. If the team above clicks, then we should win. Not getting ahead of myself after tonight. The gulf in quality between Luton and Brighton is big.

    De Gea
    AWB—Bailly—Maguire—Shaw
    DVB Pogba
    Fernandes
    Greenwood- Martial-Rashford

One positive is that HBK aka Bissouma will miss this match due to the red he got against Newcastle. I think he's looked really good whenever I've seen Brighton (alongside Alzate and Trossard in a midfield 3).

    -----------------De Gea-----------------
    AWB--Bailly--Maguire--Shaw
    ---------Pogba-------Matic---------
    ---------------Fernandes---------------
    Greenwood----------Rashford
    -----------------Martial-----------------

    Subs: VdB, Lingard, Ighalo

NB: we still need at least 2 players for decent sub choices!

Pogba shouldn't start. Fred showed today why we play so much better with him and Matic behind Bruno. Pogba slows down the play and ruins our press sadly.

Henderson should start too, he's shown he's deserved a chance.

Henderson; AWB, Lindelöf, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, Matic, Bruno, Martial, Rashford, Greenwood.

3 points and a couple of signings and this place will be in “we’re actually very good” thread mode.

    De Gea
    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw
    Fernandes--Matic--Pogba
    Greenwood--Martial--Rashford

Subs: Henderson; Williams, Bailly; Fred, Van de Beek; Lingard, Ighalo

    De Gea
    AWB - Bailly - Maguire - Shaw
    VDB - Matic
    Greenwood - Fernandes - Rashford
    Martial
It's not gonna be easy but if we can't win this then the season may well be a write-off already.

This is a game between Uniteds current manager and next manager

Do we consider Henderson for this one?
Didn't catch the game today but great to put a win on the board.

I suspect Brighton are going to face our backlash, would go for 2-0 no fuss 3 points.

He’s a big loss for us, expect Propper to step in instead, he’s a nice tidy player but doesn’t have the drive in midfield that Bissouma does.

Not optimistic to be totally honest. They are on great form and playing on their home. We will need to be on our form to get any thing out of this. Play like the Palace game and we are screwed.

There shouldn't be any fecking up with the main lineup this time. AWB, Greenwood and Matic should all start.

If we manage to pick our form and play well, we can sneak a tough win there. If we resumed from where we stopped against Palace, then can only see another defeat.

What does that even mean? Even if we get pumped 9-0 there’s a whole season left bar 2 games.

Will lamptey be fit? Bissouma is already a big loss, but if they lose lamptey as well, Ole luck might be returning . I expect a tough match. Brighton might have A lot of average players but they are a well coached side..

    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Matic Pogba
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Martial

Strongest 11 for now. Bring vdb on for one of the front 5. Williams for AWB too to give him some time at right back.

    Ryan

    White Dunk Webster

    Lamptey Propper Alzate March

    Lallana Maupay Trossard

Subs Burn for March, Connolly for Lallana and if we're losing Gross for Alzate
This is the team I'm guessing you'll be up against.

    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Pogba - Fred
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Martial
Although, I think Lindelof will get his 2nd chance and start probably.

Brighton are a potential banana skin. Honestly I would be benching Pogba. We need an industrious midfield to let our attack shine.

    De Gea
    AWB - Bailly - Maguire - Shaw
    Fred - Matic
    Fernandes - VDB - Rashford
    Martial

This and introduce Greenwood off the bench.

Why are people including lindelof in their lineups? Genuine question.

Is that what you guys wanna see or is it what you feel the manager will play, if it's the latter then I can understand it but if it's the former then I'm genuinely bewildered.

Wouldn't have Pogba anywhere near the starting 11 after that display at the weekend. He looked nowhere near ready for football.

Matic / Fred for DM role and then Donny n Bruno in the middle.

Thought Rashford looked more like his old self last night, just hope he can carry it through against a better team.

More so what Ole will play. Doubt its a good idea to give Bailly 2 games in a week either given his injury record, even though he's much better than Lindelof

However ole will rely on TFM and Dan James having rested them fully last night. Such key players

This won't be easy, they played Chelsea off the park in the first game and somehow came away with a loss.

Solid win at Newcastle also. We will have to be at our best. Think Rashford will have his work cut out for him against Lamptey.
