Associazione Calcio Milan, commonly referred to as A.C. Milan or simply Milan and nicknamed I Rossoneri, is a professional football club in Milan, Italy. A.C. Milan was founded in 1899 as Milan Foot-Ball and Cricket Club by English expatriates Alfred Edwards and Herbert Kilpin. In honor of its English origins, the club has retained the English spelling of the city's name, as opposed to the Italian spelling Milano, which it was forced to bear under the fascist regime. Milan won its first Italian championship in 1901 and a further two in succession in 1906 and 1907. In 1908, Milan experienced a split caused by internal disagreements over the signing of foreign players, which led to the forming of another Milan-based team, F.C. Internazionale Milano. Following these events, Milan did not manage to win a single domestic title until 1950–51.

The 1950s saw the club return to the top of Italian football, headed by the famous Gre-No-Li trio. This was one of the club's most successful periods domestically, with the Scudetto going to Milan in 1951, 1955, 1957, 1959 and 1962. In 1963, Milan won its first continental title by beating Benfica in the final of the European Cup. In 1986, entrepreneur Silvio Berlusconi acquired the club and saved it from bankruptcy after investing vast amounts of money, appointing rising manager Arrigo Sacchi at the helm of the Rossoneri. Under Sacchi, Milan won its first Scudetto in nine years in the 1987–88 season. The following year, the club won its first European Cup in two decades.

A.C. Milan's 18 FIFA and UEFA trophies is the fourth highest out of any club (joint with Boca Juniors), and the most out of any Italian club. Milan has won a joint record three Intercontinental Cups and one FIFA Club World Cup, seven European Cup/Champions League titles (Italian record), the UEFA Super Cup a joint record five times and the Cup Winners' Cup twice. With 18 league titles, Milan is also the joint-second most successful club in Serie A. They have also won the Coppa Italia five times, and the Supercoppa Italiana seven. Milan's main rivalry is with its neighbor club, Internazionale, where both clubs meet in the widely anticipated Derby della Madonnina twice every Serie A season. The rivalry with Juventus F.C. is a rivalry between the two most titled teams in Italy. Milan's home games are played at San Siro (or the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza), which is shared with Internazionale.

    Same team as tonight.

Yep, rotate for Leicester if needs be but we've put ourselves in a position whereby the strongest side has to start in Milan

Hope Cavani and Martial will be back for one of the next 2 games

    Henderson

    1-2 United.

Our most important game this season. Getting a goal there and even winning is still possible. Just go all out and press them from the first minute.

Same team as today. Rashford being back is a big plus. Think it'll suit us and we'll win it by a couple.

This is the game I really want to win. Fred, Shaw and Lindelof really has to start. No rotation please.

    Henderson
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Fred
    James Bruno Rashford
    Greenwood

Losing to Napoli right now. They've taken Chalanlonglu and Kessie off.

Must win for us. No excuses

Really big week now for our season. A couple of results and we can hopefully go at least to a cup final and win something. Lose both and this season loses all interest for everyone, including the players.

Only lost twice away all season, but both games were in Europe. I expect a much better performance with Rashford in the side. It will probably be the same XI as today, unless anyone has recovered from injury.

We could do with 3-4 of the 5 he mentioned coming back. We‘re winning games whilst having a bit of an injury crisis, which if you ask various managers in the PL they’ll tell you it’s not easy.

Just watched them lose against Napoli at home. Hope that's the Milan we see on Thursday. They weren't bad, but weren't good either.

Rebic got sent off at the end for something he said to the referee.

Thank god it’s an 8pm kick off. Rushing to get home from work for 6 only to sit through that dirge wasn’t fun.

I'd pick the same team as tonight (West Ham) but Amad in for Rashford (exhausted) or James (the obvious swap).

But I think we'll see the same forward line and maybe Matic in for Fred. The latter would be a mistake; Matic's pace is absolutely glacial at the moment, we missed Fred's energy hugely in the first leg.

We're terrible whenever Calabria is missing.
I hope the Napoli game was the last time I saw Dalot start for us as right-back.

You're heavy favorites if Calabria and Kjaer miss this one as well.

    Throw the kitchen sink

    ------------------henderson------------------
    ---AWB---Bailly---Maguire---Shaw---
    ----------------------fred-------------------------
    ---james-------bruno--------rashford--
    -------greenwood-----cavani-------------

    Subs:
-If we go behind then bring on pogba for fred, playing more up the field.
-If were up by two goals then bring on mctominay for cavani, playing alonside fred.

    Expecting something Leipzig-esque. Away Leipzig-esque.

We couldn't even beat their kids, for feck sake.
Kids? No AC Milan player that started last Thursday was under the age of 21 and the team had average age of 24 just slightly younger than average age of Uniteds starting 11.

Calabria was outstanding. Are they injured? I saw Kjaer on the bench.

Yes. That's why Calabria wasn't able to finish the game against you.
I think Kjaer will make it to the next game. But Calabria has the worse substitutes.

Milan will have Calhanoglu, Hernandez and Rebic back, while we’ll have Cavani and Martial thankfully. I’d go:

    Henderson
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McT Fred
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Cavani

Forget resting players. Rest against Leicester if needs be.

    1-2 United.

For me this has much higher priority than the FA cup on Sunday. Start the team who played West Ham, and then sub Cavani and Diallo early in the game if we need them.

I agree, I think winning either would be great but actually think if we get through this tie we have a decent chance at Europa

Yes winning either of those cups in combination with a good finish in the league would be a good progress this season. Plus we need titles!

    Henderson
    AWB--Bailly--Maguire--Shaw
    McTominay--Fred
    James--Bruno--Rashford
    Greenwood

Subs: De Gea; Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Telles; Matic, VdB; Diallo, Martial, Cavani

I don't think Pogba makes this game but I have a feeling that VdB, Martial and Cavani will. I watch Greenwood to have a run of games as the number 9 so would start him as a 9. Martial could perhaps start instead of James and Rashford goes to the right. But I wouldn't make many changes from the West Ham game
