Southampton Football Club nicknamed The Saints, are a professional football club based in Southampton, Hampshire, England; and were founded in 1885 by members of St Mary's Church of England Young Men's Association. Southampton play their home games at St. Mary's Stadium, and were one of the founding members of the Premier League in 1992. The club has a long-standing sporting with Portsmouth in a match termed the South Coast Derby or the Hampshire Derby. In recent years, Southampton has received praise for employing an attractive brand of football under Mauricio Pochettino and now Ronald Koeman, and having the best youth system on English soil - which has produced the likes of Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, Calum Chambers, Adam Lallana; apart from current Manchester United leftback, Luke Shaw.

    Southampton aren't a very good team. 0-0

Despite their good win yesterday, Southampton have been very very poor (well so have we to be fair) so we should be winning this.

Young injured means we'll probably get CBJ at LB which I'm okay with, he's been good this season.

    Hopefully Schweinsteiger's back too.

Need to build on the massive win at Anfield. A loss here and it will be back to square one.

    David De Gea

    Darmian
    Smalling
    Blind
    Borthwick-Jackson

    Schweinsteiger
    Schniederlin

    Lingard
    Herrera
    Martial

    Rooney

Could the Liverpool win be the momentum starter we need? Probably not. 1-0 to us. Rooney.

Need to build on today and get another win here. Spurs play Crystal Palace I think so there's a good chance of them dropping points. We just need to do our job.

    De gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind CBJ
    Schweinsteiger Schneiderlin
    Mata Rooney Memphis
    Martial

If Palace play like yesterday Spurs won't be dropping points. If the lock Wayne Hennessey in he dressing room they might.

I'm going to this one :) Very glad we've won today to take a bit of confidence into the game. Otherwise I'd be worrying the £200 it's costing me for a weekend piss up would only be worthwhile for the piss part.

Wouldn't it be great to have a match where we score a couple of goals in the first half and put the game to bed early to build some confidence.

I'd like to see Memphis start this one. There's been signs that he is starting to contribute more but today wasn't the right match to throw him into.

Herrera in the midfield two with Schneiderlin and Mata behind Rooney (won't happen).

We are 7 points off the top. Need to get a run going. I'm not satisfied about getting top 4. The Title can be ours. Grind out results if need be.

Mate, we are not currently a title winning team.
Of course, if we do win the next 7 games in a row (or similar), then we can talk about titles. But lets not get ahead of ourselves.
For now at least, top 4 is what we should be aiming for.

    Young?

    Schniederlin
    Schwiensteiger?

    Martial
    Mata
Januzaj / Depay / Lingard (any of them)

    Rooney

I think we'll start with the same line-up as today apart from CBJ instead of Young. Hopefully Schweini is fit enough to come off the bench.

    2-1. Martial, Rooney, Tadic

    De Gea
    Darmian--Smalling--Blind--CBJ
    Schneiderlin--Schweinsteiger
    Mata--Rooney--Memphis
    Martial

subs: Romero, McNair, Fellaini, Herrera, Pereira, Lingard, Januzaj

    De Gea
    Darmian--Smalling--Blind--CBJ
    Schneiderlin--Schweinsteiger
    Mata--Rooney--Memphis
    Martial

subs: Romero, McNair, Fellaini, Herrera, Pereira, Lingard, Januzaj

No more Mata on the right wing, please. With a full back like Darmian, you need someone who's more attacking on that side and willing to take players on. Lingard gives the side a much better balance.

Said before the Liverpool game that we'd beat them before returning to shit for this game.

    Hope I'm wrong.

I think this is a huge match.

Win and I can see us gaining confidence and blasting into the top 4

Lose or draw and I can see us going on another bad run and losing ground

I'm going to be confident and say 2-1 to United

Rooney on form makes me confident we'll win this. If he hadn't been as pants as he undoubtedly was for most of the season so far, we'd be sitting pretty in the top 4 no doubt. Still, we need him, and he could save our season yet.

I actually feel confident of a win.
Its a home game and Southampton aren't too great.
The odds are definitely in our favour to win this.
We seem to be win games by 1 goal and our attack is weak.
    Prediction: MUFC 1 - 0 Southampton.

This one worries me, we haven't had an easy match in ages and Southampton always seem to give us problems. Would be good to have some players back from injury. This will be the first match with a full week's rest though so that should help. I'm predicting a 2-1 win but it will be tight

    I'd love to see
    DDG

    Darmian Smalling Blind CBJ

    Schneiderlin Schweini

    Januzaj Herrera Martial

    Rooney

I don't expect Januzaj to start as LVG loves his match rhythm stuff.

    I'm expect to see:
    De Gea
    Darmian--Smalling--Blind--CBJ
    Schneiderlin--Schweinsteiger
    Rooney & Martial
but I don't know who will start in the other two positions.

Obviously it will be out of Januzaj, Lingard, Herrera, Memphis. I'd love Pereira to be in with a shout but I cannot see that happening. A bench role at best for him.

i'd just love to see our senior team play as freely as the u21's. yesterday's match, and a few others before it have been light years ahead in terms of quality. nevermind the aesthetic value of seeing players move quick on the counter.

Every match is a must-win now, at least until we've established some separation from the fifth place club. That's not going to happen for a while.

    Dave
    Darmian Smalling Blind Bo-Jack
    Schwneinsteiger (Hopefully!) and Schneiderlin
    Mata Herrera Martial
    Rooney

But you have to figure Louis loves the work Fellaini has been doing (one header but otherwise a grim performance against a grim club) so maybe he gets the start. Or maybe MF comes on as the super sub after we've bored Soton to death with our possession game.

Lingard did himself no favors with his performance v Liverpool so Mata gets the start.
