Leeds United Football Club (commonly known as just Leeds, and nicknamed The Whites and The Peacocks) is an English professional football club based in the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire. Leeds United's predecessor club, Leeds City F.C., was formed in 1904, but was forcibly disbanded by The Football League in 1919 in response to allegations of financial irregularities regarding illegal payments to players during the First World War.Shortly after the disbanding of Leeds City a new club, Leeds United, was formed on 17 October 1919, under the management of former player Dick Ray. They began playing in the Midland League, taking the place vacated by Leeds City's reserve team. Yorkshire Amateurs, who occupied Elland Road, offered to make way for the new team.

In March 1961, the club appointed former player Don Revie as manager, following the resignation of Jack Taylor. His stewardship began in adverse circumstances andonly a win in the final game of the season saved the club from relegation to Division Three. Revie implemented a youth policy and a change of kit color to an all-white strip in the style of Real Madrid, and Leeds won promotion to the First Division in 1963–64. Subsequently, however, they emerged as a major force in English football, winning 2 First Division titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup and a Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

Their second noteworthy spell began in the late 80s with the appointment of Howard Wilkinson. In 1989, the signing of Gordon Strachan from Manchester United for £300,000 proved to be a turning point. The Scottish midfielder was named captain, and helped Leeds win the Second Division in 1989–90 and gain promotion back to the First Division. Under Wilkinson Leeds finished fourth in 1990–91, and in the 1991–92 season they won the title of the last Division 1 as top tier. Ironically, the sale of Eric Cantona to Manchester United proved to be a turning point for his new club in a reversal of fortunes, and Leeds never won a league title again through the Premier League era.

Leeds United have rivalries with several clubs, including local rivalries with Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Bradford City and Huddersfield Town, and national rivalries with Manchester United (arguably the strongest of them all), Chelsea and Millwall. Alex Ferguson spoke on the rivalry between Leeds United and Manchester United stating that playing against Leeds was a "frightening experience... I have always said Liverpool versus Manchester United games are fierce in many aspects. Sometimes supporters can play a bad part in that particular game. But it never reaches the levels of Leeds United. Never." Leeds play their home games at Elland Road.

I’m worried about this. Adams, McKennie, Harrison, Bamford are pressing machines and made it very uncomfortable for us. Ten Hag has some thinking to do.

Need a result here. Our league form is on the slide.

Maybe we won't be caught by surprise this time and we'll know what to expect more of. Feck that new manager bounce shite

Should have won, we’ll win at the weekend. Leeds legs looked out of it.

Start with Sancho and bin off Weghorse. Don't concede within the first minute. Win

I hope they spunked their energy tonight

    De Gea

    Dalot
    Varane
    Martinez
    Shaw

    ?
    Sabitzer
    Sancho

    Antony/Pellestri
    Rashford
    Garnacho

Drop Weghoust and Fred please. They’re both very shit and we will lose if either of them plays

Maguire and Varane CBs with Martinez and Sabitzer in midfield

We cannot turn up with that midfield again.
Whilst options are limited we have to change it.

for two games now we have looked far better when Weghorst went off. He works hard but hes not on the level of our other forwards.
Id start with the team we finished with. Lindelof playing the casamiro role.

    Another draw at best.

We clearly were the better side and probably should have won. Their keeper had to make a few great saves,. They barely arsed DDG all match. uncalled handball by them that led to their second goal which should have been dealt with easily but a bad miss kick by Varane.

If Wout starts then I have no hope of getting anything from this game. He doesn't provide any real threat and gets 1 maybe 2 half decent chances per game. At times it feels like we're playing with 10 men.

This won’t be the team but it’s what I’d play

    De Gea
    Dalot - Varane - Martinez - Malacia
    Sabitzer - Shaw
    Pellistri - Bruno - Sancho
    Rashford

    .................. De Gea

    Bissaka - Varane - Martinez - Shaw

    ............ Sabitzer - Fred

    Antony - Fernandes - Sancho

    .............. Rashford

if antony is fit....i'd go. Bruno was dreadful at times tonight and he needs a break. That front attacking four would be mobile and would put Leeds defensively on the back foot

    Rashford
    Pellestri Sancho Antony
Sabitzer Do we have anyone other than Fred?

    De Gea
    Dalot Varane Martinez Shaw
    Lindelof Sabitzer
    Antony Bruno Sancho
    Rashford

Surely will win this one after dropping points today. Always feel like it's hard to beat the same team twice in a few days, but should win after dropping points.

I don't like Fred and Sabitzer pivot. 2 box to box guys. Need a DM... Lindelof closest we have

McTominay was poor against Arsenal but Fred was diabolical tonight

Martinez or Lindelof? Think id rather play Shaw there than Fred again.

Sancho in place of Weghorst and lets hope weve Antony back.

Nailed it. Think this is the lineup barring Antony not being available or Martial being fit. I hate having to play Rashford through the middle but there's no chance Wout should be starting anymore. Also agree on Lindelof playing a holding role, at the bare minimum perhaps we get less calamitous passing and positioning from him than Fred.

    DDG
    AWB Varane Martinez Shaw
    Sabitzer Fred
    Antony Bruno Sancho
    Rashford

If Antony and AWB are back fit I'd change the right hand side completely. Sancho coming in for Garnacho who I think it's clear is better against tired legs at this stage of his career.

Fred is the big worry, but we have no other central midfielder fit and it's not the time to throw in Mainoo or Iqbal unfortunately

    Fred was better than Sabitzer

Sabitzer was hiding all game which gave Fred two jobs to do in midfield. He was poor but was made look worse by Sabitzer.

I'd start Lindelof DMF and play Fred ahead of him unless we can get McTominay back.

They're going to come at us like madmen again, especially in the first half, roared on by the home crowd. We need to be much more clinical with our finishing and need much more control in the middle of the park - Fred if he's playing needs to play further forward where he can do less damage to us.

You guys are all emotional so and so’s. Fred should obviously start, poor as he played tonight.

    This should be it.

Leeds faded in the last 30 mins. Think Mctominay would be an upgrade on Fred and should start if fit.

Honestly I think Rashfords game through the middle has progressed massively. Sancho being back means we finally have a winger who an start alongside Antony on the other side so I think it can be something we can build momentum with now
