Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to simply as Tottenham or Spurs (and nicknamed The Lilywhites), are a professional football club based in Tottenham, London. The Hotspur Football Club was formed in 1882 by a group of school boys, mostly aged 13 to 14, from Tottenham Grammar School and Saint John's Middle Class School who were members of the Hotspur Cricket Club formed two years earlier. Initially, the boys that formed Hotspur Football Club played games between themselves and friendly matches against other local clubs. The team entered their first cup competition in the London Association Cup, and won their first competitive match on 17 October 1885. The club turned professional on 20 December 1895, and in the summer of 1896 they were admitted to the Division One of the Southern League. On 2 March 1898, the club also became a limited company, the Tottenham Hotspur Football and Athletic Company.

Tottenham were the first club in the 20th century to achieve the League and FA Cup Double, winning both competitions in the 1960-61 season. After successfully defending the FA Cup in 1962, in 1963 they became the first British club to win a UEFA club competition – the European Cup Winners' Cup. In 1967, Spurs won the FA Cup for a third time in the 1960s. In the 1970s Tottenham won the League Cup on two occasions and were the inaugural winner of the UEFA Cup in 1972, becoming the first British club to win two different major European trophies. In the 1980s Spurs won several trophies: the FA Cup twice, FA Community Shield and the UEFA Cup in 1984. In the 1990s the club won the FA Cup and the League Cup. When they won the League Cup once more in 2008, it meant that they had won a major trophy in each of the last six decades – an achievement only matched by Manchester United.

Tottenham supporters have rivalries with several clubs, mainly within the London area. The fiercest of these is with north London rivals Arsenal (with matches between them termed the North London derby). They also share notable rivalries with fellow London clubs Chelsea and West Ham United. Tottenham play their home games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After last weeks results, a draw would be a good result

Surely we won’t let them beat us again after that 6-1 humiliation

    Boring but useful 0-0

    Team should be...

    ---------------Henderson---------------
    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw
    -------Pogba------------Fred-------
    Greenwood--Bruno--Rashford
    -----------------Cavani-----------------

Subs: De Gea, Williams, Telles, Tuanzebe, McTominay, Matic, Mata, James, Amad

Avenge the home game and go for them

Hate playing against Mourinho. They're capable of being a good team (though they arent), and while I'd love revenge on the 6-1, I'd probably take a draw and just keep the unbeaten away run ticking.

    Henderson
    Wan Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Fred
    Greenwood Bruno Pogba
    Rashford
Think we'll see something like this. Slight chance at Cavani in for Greenwood and Rashford on the right.

Yeah McTominay will start after today's performance you bet. I'd rather have granpa Matic there, probably gonna be Pogba-Fred at the base, with both players to prove a lot to their former manager, although I wouldn't mind to try some sort of VDB-Fernandes-Fred combo.

VDB's not my favourite and showed very little since his arrival but can't be worse than Scott, maybe not as strong but closing space much better and positionally, perhaps not starting against Spurs yet. It is a good game for Ole to show he's better manger than Mou too so he should play a strong team to get us another good win..

Everyone's knackered or injured. On our day we're better than them but with Ole so unwilling to rotate anyone, our day is all used up. I'd take a draw.

Or... Shawberto Carlos to score a hattrick to show Jose what he was missing.

Nevermind the draw, we owe them a doing, a victory is the minimum requirement

Id only take a draw providing all the teams below us also drop points

Cant see us doing well here. Its Leicesters advantage all over again.
If its a draw at half time we may kick on but Kane will score

    Agree with this, decent side.

I saw this exact attitude before we proceeded to clobber Manchester City at Ethiad

I think Solskjaer errs on the side of caution and goes with McTominay and Fred after what happened last time

Long time ago in covid football terms. Seemed to be our second wind and gone. If we lost that we were bang in trouble for top 4, now its 11 points.
Not having a go at Utd here, a lot of clubs in the same boat and we will get some wild games throughout the league before its over. Its why 11 points is massive.

Would take a 0-0 now. This will be similar to the Leicester game after we had played Milan. The Milan game was tougher than today’s game, but we will be tired + the travel, Spurs will outrun us.

I could see this being a bit of a stalemate, I expect McFred to be reinstated with Pogba pushed wide.

Really hope Jose goes super pragmatic for this, although they're sort of at last chance motel for top 4.

I can see this being a bit like our FA cup tie with Leicester unfortunately.

Here's hoping we finally get a win this weekend :nervous:

A 0-0 or a 1-0 to either team shithouse of a game. We are basically playing Jose football ourselves at the moment. Win at all costs and move on. Hopefully our style improves when we add the right signings and some major freshness to the team. I’ll take winning ugly for now.

I thought this game would be an opportunity to rest a couple of key players either side of the more important Q/F legs. However, scoring that second goal, and 3 of our players being suspended for the 2nd leg - so no need to rest Shaw (if fit) or Maguire - maybe changes things a little.

That said, I'd still like to see Rashford only used as a sub v Spurs, and also (if needed) v Granada. Also, I think we've got to be careful with our CB's given Bailly might miss both games due to Covid, Maguire is suspended for Thursday, and if we risk Lindelof v Spurs and he picks up an injury we might end up with no senior CB's for the second leg.

If Bailly was available, I'd have him playing both games - with Maguire v Spurs, then with Lindelof v Granada. It might have to be Tuanzebe instead - let's face it, if he's not trusted with game time even during a CB shortage then he should have been loaned out.

Interesting to note Utd have never scored more than 1 goal away to a Mourinho side. Spurs will be up for this.

As a Leicester fan, I would appreciate a solid Manchester victory. One that makes them realize that top four is just not attainable.

We need to get revenge on this lot after that 1 in a million 6-1 fluke at OT, 4-0 will do it for me.

I would really like some revenge for that 6-1, but I feel like a draw is gonna happen

This season United the team that have gained the most points from losing positions. Spurs have dropped the most points from winning positions.

Spurs with a week to prepare, us with a couple of days.

It'll be a repeat of the Leicester game performance wise, plenty of effort but a lack of energy and quality. I'm now getting really concerned about injuries as this ridiculously relentless season draws to a close, part of me would be very tempted to make use of the points gap to rest all the big hitters but Ole would be strung up if he did.

With no knockout situation however there's less emphasis on chasing the result and I suspect a draw is most likely.

You'd have to make spurs favourites given the circumstances and if kane has a good day that could well be the difference
