Everton Football Club (nicknamed The Toffees and The Blues) are a professional football club based in Liverpool, England. Everton were founded as St Domingo FC in 1878 so that members of the congregation of St Domingo Methodist New Connexion Chapel in Breckfield Road North, Everton could play sport year round – cricket was played in summer. The club's first game was a 1–0 victory over Everton Church Club. The club was renamed Everton in November 1879 after the local area, as people outside the congregation wished to participate. The club was a founding member of the Football League in 1888–89 and won their first League Championship title in the 1890–91 season. Everton won the FA Cup for the first time in 1906 and the League Championship again in 1914–15. The outbreak of the First World War in 1914 interrupted the football programme while Everton were champions, which was something that would again occur in 1939.

It was not until 1927 that Everton's first sustained period of success began. In 1925 the club signed Dixie Dean from Tranmere Rovers. In 1927–28, Dean set the record for top-flight league goals in a single season with 60 goals in 39 league games, which is a record that still stands. He helped Everton win their third League Championship that season. Everton's second successful era started when Harry Catterick was made manager in 1961. In 1962–63, his second season in charge, Everton won the League Championship. In 1966 the club won the FA Cup with a 3–2 win over Sheffield Wednesday. Everton again reached the final in 1968, but this time were unable to overcome West Bromwich Albion at Wembley. Two seasons later in 1969–70, Everton won the League Championship, finishing nine points clear of nearest rivals Leeds United. During this period, Everton were the first English club to achieve five consecutive years in European competitions – covering the seasons from 1961–62 to 1966–67. Howard Kendall took over as manager and guided Everton to their most successful era. Domestically, Everton won the FA Cup in 1984 and two League Championships in 1984–85 and 1986–87. In Europe, the club won its first, and so far only, European trophy by securing the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1985.

All in all, Everton have won 15 major trophies: the League Championship nine times (fourth most as of 2017–18), the FA Cup five times (ninth most) and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup once. The club have also competed in the top division for a record 114 seasons, missing the top division only four times (1930–31 and three consecutive seasons starting with 1951–52). Everton have play their homes games at Goodison Park since 1892, after moving from Anfield following a row over its rent. Their biggest rivals are neighbors Liverpool, against whom they contest the Merseryside Derby.

Moyes and Jose i think were finished after a whopping in this game.
    Ominous.

    We shall lose.

Ole will suffer Moyes fate. His last game coming up. Is Giggs still arrested? If so, give it to Carrick till end of season (and watch us get relegated).

Just like Moyes, this should be his last game. Just like Moyes, we'll get pumped.

    Not looking forward to this.
Bound to be a hangover from an away in Europe a few days before.

Only slight saving grace is Everton have dropped a few gears, and have 2-3 key players out.

But they seem to enjoy sticking one up us as much as up Liverpool. Though barely ever succeeding in the latter.

Christ for the love of God, please lockdown the whole season and let me re-watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer in peace.

Horrible memories of that 4-4 coming up for some reason!
Heart says we are due a win in the league and players will have something to prove, mind says we will lose and Ole will be replaced during the international break.

This is now the real test...For Everton

If they have anything about them they'll take us to the cleaners.

Anything less than a win is surely the end of the Solskjaer chapter in the book of Manchester United.

Never has a Joaquin Phoenix Gladiator gif been so appropriate

For the first time in many years, I consider deliberately missing matches. I get so depressed watching the slow, unimaginative effort the players deliver.

We’ll lose this one 3-1, Ole will then come out and blame the schedule and say we are working on it in training and the lads are doing their best. Bless them.

During the game he’ll sit in his seat chewing his nails chatting to Carrick and doing nothing while we pass it around the back as slow as snails while the other lads walk around up front.

Forget to say, we’ll obviously make them look like prime Barca, should go without saying.

Think he has already come out and blamed the P.L. for not helping us with the schedule.

    Dont care at all.

Totally detached from the team/manager at this point.

Even a win will feel like a loss.

ill give it a miss anyway. It will only wind me up.

The same team will play an insipid game and Ole will sit on the bench motionless.
Shaw will run up to the halfway line and then stop and roll the ball under his foot and then pass it backwards. THis will happen alot.

Martial will do zero work off the ball and have no effect on the game.

Maguire will defend from Evertons peno spot

Carrick should walk as well or manage our 23s. 2nd manager now he has been part of coaching staff for 1st team.If coaches not improving our players then new manager needs to be bring in coaches that will improve the 1st team squad. Alot of work needed to improve our style of play and intensity. If poch does come in I'm sure he will bring one or of his own staff that worked with him at Spurs.

    Martial

    Rashford————Bruno———Greenwood

    Fred———McTominay

    Shaw——Maguire———Lindelöf——AWB

    De Gea

Subs: Henderson, Tuanzebe, Williams, Pogba vdB, James, Cavani

    1-1 draw.

I give us zero chance of winning this and let's be honest a draw does nothing for us

another shit weekend incoming, just hope City smash Liverpool

Park the bus and go on the counter, easy win against us. I'd be absolutely shocked if they don't play like this.

There‘s a good chance that both teams will be cautious, meaning a possible stalemate.

If Digne, Coleman and James are back for this one, I would worry.

What does everybody think of this team? On paper it would address some of our issues with breaking down teams sitting deep against us with a genuine threat in the box plus better delivery from the right through Rashford. Could also play Greenwood and drop Martial.

    DDG
    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
    McTominay - Fred
    Rashford - Fernandes - Martial
    Cavani

Back to basics and let´s forget about this diamond now. And Fernandes deserves to be dropped. I think he´s the horrific the last few games, just giving the ball away again and again and again.

    ...................... De Gea

    Bissaka - Lindelöf - Maguire - Shaw

    ................ Donny - Fred

    ................... Pogba

    Greenwood - Martial - Rashford

Quite fitting really, it was the loss to Everton at the end of his first season that really started the alarm bells, on Saturday a loss to the same team should see him off.
