    Brighton & Hove Albion (nicknamed The Seagulls and Albion) are a professional football club based in Brighton & Hove. The club was first formed as Brighton & Hove United on 24 June 1901, and the name was quickly changed to Brighton & Hove Albion. The club took the place of a defunct club, Brighton & Hove Rover, in the Southern League In the Southern League they won their only national honour to date, the FA Charity Shield, by defeating Football League Champions Aston Villa in 1910. There had previously been Old Brightonians, representing the area in the FA Cup in the 19th Century. The club initially played at the Hove County Ground, with a few games were also at Goldstone Ground that was used by Hove F.C. From 1902 onwards, Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. and Hove F.C. shared the Gladstone Ground. In 1920, 19 years after the club was formed, they were elected to the Football League's new Third Division.

    Mismanagement brought Brighton close to relegation from the Football League to the Conference which they narrowly avoided in 1997 and 1998. A boardroom takeover saved Brighton from liquidation, and following successive promotions they returned to the second tier of English football in 2002, from then on playing in the second and third tiers of English football until the conclusion of the 2016-17 season, where the club earned promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history, marking the end of a 34-year absence from the top flight. Bighton's fans consider Crystal Palace to be their biggest rival with matches between them termed the M23 derby, and they play their home games at Falmer Stadium.

    We won the important match which is what matters. I think Brighton will be pretty tired for this so I think we'll defeat them easier this time.

    I think the likes of AWB, Maguire, Fred, Rashford and Martial need more match fitness. The rest are squad B players. I would give Pogba, Ighalo and James minutes from the bench because they also lack match sharpness, but putting them on the team weakens it. We need wins under our belt to gain confidence.
     
    Brighton play league game on Saturday, 3pm kick-off vs Everton. So I doubt they will play first team for a league Cup game. We play on Sunday but surely we will rotate heavily too.

    No way I’d play AWB in this - they were at him all game. For me, currently, our best back four doesn’t have him or Lindelof in it.

    With this team the energy levels will be much higher, but whether we can create and score goals is another question. Would like to see James given a go on the left, he should be able to get in behind the defence, and hopefully cross to Ighalo to finish. Lingard on the right will perhaps give TFM a chance to attack down that right hand side, as Lingard will drift inside. McTominay and Fred should be a solid midfield platform to allow both fullbacks to attack more. We should see how creative VDB is, playing in the Fernandes role. I'm looking forward to it.

    Whoever scores for us has to without a shadow of a doubt has to do the crying celebration for Maupay. If we get a penalty, this has to be dinked down the middle. Regardless of whether the keeper knows its going to happen.

    Pretty much concur with most that the second string should be given the chance, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's more of a mixed XI.
     
    It would be good to see a few players stepping up and making a case that they should be in the first XI. Pogba's spot should be up for grabs, as should more or less anywhere in the back 4. It would be nice to see Henderson putting some pressure on De Gea too.

    DDG has done well on the first two games. It’s a good opportunity for Henderson to get game time.

    Agree about squad players stepping up.
     
    Henderson for Dave and Donny for Pogba. Not sure about the rest. They need, well, something, not sure if it's a rest or match fitness.

    I do wonder how seriously Brighton takes this game given their fight against relegation last season. I'd think they would want to focus on the league, but what do I know?

    One might ask how the second string could play any worse than the first string did on Saturday, but the second string might accept that as a challenge.

    We will rest team for Spurs game. They will play with best 11. I expect similiar game but i doubt that we will be lucky again
