Sevilla Fútbol Club, also known as S.A.D. or Sevilla (and nicknamed Sevillistas, Los Rojiblancos (The White and Reds), Los Hispalenses (from Hispalis, Seville's ancient name) or El Grande de Andalucía (The Greats of Andalusia)), is a Spanish professional football club based in Sevilla, capital and largest city of the autonomous community of Andalusia. The practice of football was introduced in Seville at the end of the 19th century by the large British expatriate population in the city, composed by owners or managers of manufacturing companies based in the capital of Andalusia. Sevilla Fútbol Club was founded on 25 January 1890 as Sevilla Foot-ball Club (in English). With that foundation date, Sevilla Fútbol Club can boast of being one of the two oldest football clubs in Spain. It shares that honor with another Andalusian club, Recreativo de Huelva. Sevilla and Recreativo also made their mark in history by playing the first official football match in Spain; Sevilla came out victorious, defeating their oldest rivals by 2-0.

During its first couple of decades, Sevilla FC had to settle for being the best football club in its region. Out of the nineteen Championships of Andalusia played in the period from 1917 to 1940, Sevilla won sixteen, while placing runners-up in the remaining three. They further added to their trophy collection by winning two Copa del Reys in 1935 and 1939. As it turned out, the two cups were a harbinger of things to come. In 1946, Sevilla won its only La Liga to date, defeating the favored Barcelona by a single point. Another Copa del Rey in 1948 marked the end of their conquests for a long time; even though the club managed to stay near the top of Spanish football for a while yet, a financial crisis in the 70s saw them being relegated to the Segunda Division on numerous occasions during the next three decades.

The new century brought some welcome changes to the club, most notably with Juande Ramos' appointment as head coach. Under his leadership, Sevilla returned to the football map by winning two consecutive UEFA Cups in 2006 and 2007. The latter season also saw them win the Copa del Rey, a feat they repeated in 2010. After being forced to sell their best players due to another financial crisis, Sevilla shocked everyone by winning three UEFA Europa Leagues in 2014 2015 and 2016. As the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Europa League are considered the same tournament, these latest triumphs saw Sevilla become the most successful club in the history of the competition. Sevilla's biggest rivals are cross-town club clubs Real Betis - with matches between the two termed the Sevilla derby. Sevilla play home games at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, which contains a singular legend: the Spanish national team has never lost a game against an international team in this stadium.

Don’t fancy this at all. Sevilla are one of those awkward teams and they have this competition nailed. I’d fancy it over two legs in the CL, but not this. Especially given our current form.

Edit: completely forgot about Jose’s Sevilla game, guess I’ve tried to blank it out of my memory. Probably explains why this tie fills me with dread.

If we bugger this and don't end up playing Inter in the final it'll be a crime against the game of foot and ball.

Bring it on! Ole wanted this match as Molde lost to Sevilla when he managed Molde, and obviously we have the 'Heritage' match.

But it's the better matchup anyway you look at it. Very good challenge, two good teams...so it'll be a tight match as it should be because it's a one-off semi-final.

Nah, they may have won it before but what does that have to do with this year?

We've won the European cup before but doesn't mean we are gonna win it next year.

This game could go either way.

If we turn up and play with tempo and aggression we will win. Anything less than that and we are out.

    Team should be...

    -----------------Romero-----------------
    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Williams
    -------Pogba------------Matic-------
    Greenwood-Bruno-Rashford
    -----------------Martial-----------------

Ole's righted a lot of Mourinho's wrongs but we've also been knocked out at the SF stage of every other cup tournament this season. Somethings got to give

Mark out Banega and keep Reguilon and Ocampos quiet and we've got a great chance.

They didn't impress me much but they know how to control a game if you let them.

We are absolutely terrible against Spanish teams. Hope we can somehow win it.

Jose fan boys would hate the thought of having Ole beat sevilla and then beat Conte in the final. No argument to stand on after that .

Excited for the game. Will be tough but we are facing a Proper CL opponent so would be fun. Would have liked it to be a 2 legged tie but one leg might suit us.

We’ll need Penandes to make another appearance for this one.

They are unbeaten in 18 - should be a good game

So if we lose he's no better than Jose was for us? Either way, I don't agree with the logic.

    Romero
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Williams
    Pogba Matic
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Martial

    Win 2-1

Hopefully we can raise our performance levels for this difficult game. Would be amazing to get to the final.

Wanted Wolves but it is what it is now. For those that don't already know Sevilla finished 4th in the La Liga level on points with Atletico Madrid in 3rd. They are unbeaten since February and knocked United out of the Champions league in March 2018 when Jose had a rant about his own football heritage.

For me this is the final in all but name.

He and Molde beat them at home 1-0 in 2016 but lost on aggregate. If he can do that with Molde he will win on neutral ground with this team hopefully.
Sevilla is not an easy opponent though, it will be a tough match.

We're going to be outplayed. Their midfield will dominate ours, and Suso and Ocampos will terrorise our left hand side.

We'll need another appearance from penandes or for Martial to turn back into prime Brazilian Ronaldo.

This will be a very tough game, but United will go through it they play well.

Thought this was on Monday..! Feels like a bonus finding out it’s Sunday.

I think we’ll lose this, but if we can be clinica, we have a chance as we’ll obviously create plenty of opportunities.

Im just so fecking glad it’s not wolves

I really hope Ole abandons the 1 man midfield shape. We need Bruno closer to Pogba. They'll starve us off the ball if we persist with that shape.

Shaw would be a huge miss. I hope he's somehow fit.

Disappointed they did not play the extra time really. We have one more day, we just have to hope it's going to impact them as much as it impacted us when we played Chelsea in the FA Cup.

It will be nice to play against a team that will play football.

The game will be open, should be nice.

I love this one game "world cup" format. It is so exciting. They should keep it.

They wont press us high so we'll stick it to them.
We play well against footballing sides

Are Inter/Shaktar just a formality then? I'd say Inter would be quite a tricky opponent. And they've got a couple of players who might be extra motivated.

I remember thinking we were favourites when we had our good spell right after the re-start. That's slowly dissipated and now I think it's anyone's game really.

I will say something not one of you said or even thought of it:
    Heritage!!!

Anyway, third semi final this season, third time's a charm!

Weve been slow and insipid for weeks.
Cant see us winning this game.

It'll be a repeat of the FA Cup semi and we'll be well beaten.
