Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, commonly known as Wolves or The Wanderers, is an English professional football club based in the city of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands. The club were founded as St. Luke's in 1877 by John Baynton and John Brodie, after a group of pupils at St Luke's Church school in Blakenhall had been presented with a football by their headmaster Harry Barcroft. Two years later, they merged with local cricket and football club The Wanderers, to form Wolverhampton Wanderers. The club then became one of the twelve founders of the English Football League in 1888 and finished the inaugural season in a creditable third place, as well as reaching their first ever FA Cup Final, losing 3–0 to the first Double winners, Preston North End.

The club spent 33 years in the top flight from 1932 to 1965, their longest continuous period at that level (albeit league football was in hiatus from 1939 to 1946 due to World War II). During the 1950s, the club was English league champions three times (1953–54, 1957–58 & 1958–59), whilst under the management of Stan Cullis. Wolves has also finished runners-up in the league on five occasions (most recently in 1959–60) and in third place on a further six occasions (most recently in 1960–61). On the domestic cup front, they have won the FA Cup four times, most recently in 1960, and has finished runners-up on a further four occasions, and the Football League Cup twice, in 1974 and 1980.

Wolves have long-standing rivalries with other West Midlands clubs; the main one is with West Bromwich Albion, against whom they contest the Black Country derby and with whom Wolves has played more league fixtures (146) than any other football opponent, even though the two clubs have not met in a league fixture since 2011–12 (the last season they competed in the same division as each other). Wolves also share rivalries with the two Birmingham clubs, Aston Villa and Birmingham City, though they are much further away than West Bromwich. They play their homes games at the Molineux Stadium, the first stadium ever built for use by a Football League club and one of the first British grounds to have floodlights installed and it hosted some of the earliest European club games in the 1950s.

We'll either loose and Bruno is a flop or we win 1-0 and he scores the winner

I'm pretty sure we'll get Wolves in the Europa league at some point.

Probably somehow play both legs away as well.

Hope to see Bruno, at least as a sub. Have a feeling he won't come on though.

Let's see if that 58th minute protest actually happens.

feck, it's going to be a Fred-Pereira midfield isn't it. Can't imagine this is going to be a pleasant game.

I’d say this might come too soon for a Bruno start, but Pereira and Lingard have done nothing to suggest they would be a more sensible pick and the crowd will be all over them with him on the bench. Should just be bold and pick him.

Going to be difficult to get the midfield right for this one with Matic suspended. I’d go:

    DDG
    AWB Lindelöf Maguire Williams
    Bruno Fred Pereira
    Mata
    James Martial

Don't think Bruno will start. Will be on the bench though I believe.

Hopefully we grab a similar one to the FA cup one.

Can’t see how Bruno doesn’t start even when you are going to have to play at least two of Lingard, Pereira and Mata even with him.

On reflection, we might need to go with a back three, but not sure you want to do that against Traore.

    DeGea

    Bissaka Lindeløf Maguire Williams

    Fred Matic

    Fernandes

    Mata Greenwood Martial

Didn’t think Bruno would be starting this one but with Matic suspended we’re at bare bones in midfield so may have to just throw him straight in as Lingard literally offers nothing. Team would be the same as the one that started against City with Pereira in for Matic and Bruno for Lingard. Wolves are very annoying to play against but hopefully the win against them in the cup will give us the confidence to beat them again.

Going to this match. Hope we bloody win and that Bruno lad plays so I can get a good look at him. No reason to ease him in.

    Fecking hate playing Wolves.

If we could just win and then Chelsea lose... or draw at worst. But Chelsea losing is best as we meet them later on.

    De Gea
    Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
    Dalot - Fred - Matic - Williams
    Bruno
    Greenwood - Martial

Travelling over from Ireland with a few friends for this. First time ever going to a match at OT absolutely buzzing hope we put in a performance and hopefully it’s Bruno’s debut :)

I want to go 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 but with no defensive midfielder, I think we should stick with a back 3 for this game.

Any sort of win is essential. If Leicester beat Chelsea and we win we'll return from the break with a 3 point gap to 4th and hopefully fernandes and mctominay coming into the team

    DDG

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Williams

    Fred Pereira

    Bruno

    James Martial Greenwood

Bloody hell, I thought they had done way with cards in cup games not having any bearing on league games. Guess not so far a sending off.

But, being shorn of a true defensive mid against Wolves is maybe not as bad as against others. They'll want to play on the counter. Fred is going to have to step up and shoulder the role and hopefully Perreira actually does a decent enough job.

Get at them from the off, like City tried today with us, put them under pressure and don't let up.
